CHRISTO'S UMBRELLAS, OCTOBER 1991 © 1997 PATRICIA GOULD 59 x 40 inches. Ready to hang with sleeve and slat. In early October 1991, I experienced Christo's Umbrella Project in California. Christo had intended for the huge, bright yellow umbrellas to be a striking contrast to the brown hills of the area in the Fall, which they were. As I was enjoying this beauty, I was also impressed by the design possibilities of one umbrella which had been installed at the bank of a small stream. The reflection was serene and this was one of the few places where there was any greenery as a contrast to the yellow. This artwork was on display at the US Embassy in Estonia as part of the Art In Embassies Program 2002 -2004
