Review: Chickeny chicken. - I had pretty low expectations testing this as backpacking food, but it's flavorful and moist, tasting like actual chicken we'd cook at home. There's a hint of tuna when we open the package, but up close, it's just chickeny chicken. It has a fined grained texture in a way that works well in sandwiches or mixed with veggies in a salad, but it might be a little textureless in more complex cooked preparations. Compared to cooking and pulling apart a whole chicken at home, it saves a lot of time and effort. Plus very convenient to have in the pantry to add a little easy protein to whatever we're eating. It's also a lot more affordable (and nicer) as protein for short back packing trips than dehydrated meals. I like that it also comes in the larger packs for us to share without having to carry around the extra packaging.
