I'm making a lot of X-acto knife cuts and this mat seems to absorb the cuts as well as anything. I've had a stiff green mat for ages. I can't remember the brand but it was more than likely picked up in a B&M art or office store. It's nowhere near the quality of mat this one is. Good layout for measurements too.Was hard to pick one of these blind when Amazon has such a huge selection and there is no way to physically test anything out. I trusted the reviews on this one and am glad I did in this case.
