All he wants is to create his art in peace. But it's not easy being different--a cockroach with a cricked wing and a flair for sculpture is a ready target for the bigger creatures in the forest. Crickwing just wants to even the score, and leafcutter ants are so easy to pick on. . . .Big mistake. Nobody angers the leafcutter queen and gets away with it. In this epic adventure beneath the foliage, Crickwing and the leafcutter ants go head-to-head. Then a swarm of ferocious army ants threatens, and suddenly everyone is in danger. Crickwing has to do something, but what? He's an artist, not a fighter. What the leafcutters need is a hero. Or, maybe, a cockroach with a really clever idea. . . . Review: Great themes supported by beautiful art and writing - This book tells the story of a bully roach. It encourages children to think about how he bullies out of insecurity and pain. He learns to stop bullying when his pain recedes and he is given empathy by some caring ants. The writing is great- as good as the author's other famous book- Stellaluna, and the art is gorgeous. The pictures are always great and the stories are always fun. This is a must have for anyone with little kids. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ crafty cockroach makes friends *by C***T on January 11, 2007* Important life lessons about how a person with mobility challenges or other physical challenges might feel marginalized and try to find a special niche in life. Crickwing uses his crafting abilities to save the day. A lovely, deep story about an ancient insect. Perhaps a little too mature for 6 year olds, but they love the story and beautiful illustrations. I expect the "lessons" to sink in over many readings. Janell Cannon is truly gifted. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/4171254-crickwing-an-adventure-about-a-clever-cockroach-artist-hero-kids](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/4171254-crickwing-an-adventure-about-a-clever-cockroach-artist-hero-kids) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-12*
