Google Origanum Vulgare Specie for specifics. It has to be that specific kind. The oil and the vodka will sting. So, be warned. You might want to use something like liquid orajel or benzocaine to dull the pain before applying. Another thing that works is gentian violet (if it's yeast / ringworm related).
