What an underrated album in The Corpses catalog.

*by O***D on Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2010*

In 1996 Cannibal Corpse fired former vocalist Chris Barnes, and hired former Monstrosity vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher, and released their first album with him on vocals in 'Vile' and it was an awesome album, people saw a change in the band, now most metal fans say Cannibal Corpse never changed, that's not true, they changed even before Chris Barnes left, you can hear it in his final album 'The Bleeding', and they changed again with the addition of Corpsegrinder on vocals.Well guess what, there is a difference between 'Vile' and this album 'Gallery of Suicide' for one, the band seems to have gotten more technical this time around, while 'Vile' the band did change as I stated, but it was far from technical, well this album is the complete opposite, it's still Cannibal Corpse yes, but with more of a technical side, this is best prevalent in tracks such as track 5 'Gallery of Suicide' opening with a slow, almost doom riff, it's very melodic, another track worthy of this mention is the instrumental 'From Skin to Liquid' this song is slow, and heavy as all hell, with those punishing guitar riffs, and slow creepy leads, excellent track, 'Chambers of Blood' is another track that belongs in this section, opening with an awesome set of riffs and leads that just hook you right off, Corpsegrinders awesome vocals come in over the top of those slows creepy heavy riffs, just incredibly awesome.I don't have much time, or I would go into more detail about this what I feel is a masterpiece of an album, and for those who say this is a stain in The Corpses discography, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, pay no attention, if you're a fan of Cannibal Corpse, you need this album, do not listen to the naysayers on this one, they can't appreciate a band changing I guess.

More clarity than most previous albums

*by J***A on Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2016*

The sound is better than vile and the vocals are more clear. I think this is the first album they put an instrumental on as well. More clarity in all aspects, yet the bass drum does not sound as "bassy" as I would like. Cool tempo changes and heavy riffs with well thought out vocals make this an overall great album for anyone who loves the corpse!

    every bone broken

how does Gallery of Suicide measure-up? if you love Corpse, you'll love this. i put it on par with Butchered at Birth (from the Chris Barnes era). my favorite track is "dismembered & molested", but if you like one of these songs, you'll like them all. the riffs are brutal & complex. the vocals are more guttural, instead of the mid-range, semi-intelligible style that George goes for. the production is great, but not quite as clear as Kill or Evisceration Plague. if you want some crushing brutality, get this & Bloodthirst. if you want more of a catchy, pop death metal sound, get Gore Obsessed or The Wretched Spawn.
