The 10” height fits the beds requirements well and the firmness makes it very comfortable for an adult or child to sleep on. I didn’t notice any smell when I unboxed it, but I did leave it to completely decompress for a couple days as recommended, so maybe it dissipated by the time anyone laid down on it. Came rolled and wrapped up and began to inflate as soon as I took off the first layer of plastic (which I don’t think was supposed to happen as there was a hole in the second plastic layer). The instructions say allow 48-72 hours to fully inflate, but I slept on mine the same night. Initially firm, but definitely not uncomfortable. Now that it’s puffed up a little bit more, I can say I’m overall happy with it! The springs are pretty rigid, so not a great bed for jumping on.
