Great story. Keeps you hooked. My only problem really with the whole thing and why I only gave 4 stars is the F-Bomb (language) and GD-Bomb (language) getting used very frequently. The tale is about a man who chooses power and fame over ethics and dooms the world to a nightmare that's destroying the world. He's unleashed the end of the world and has to find the means to set things right. The horrors he faces seem insurmountable and his allies are not too trusting of him even as they know he's the only chance they have of surviving what faces them.There's some back and forth in the time line but it delivers in the end. Lauffray's story and art, with a crisp and evocative script by Xavier Dorison, keeps the pacing lively. I normally have a problem with the shifting time lines but by the time I got the end the resolution made it worth it.The artist and writer of Long John Silver bring the same dedication to making exotic settings and characters being tied well to very human passions and flaws. This book is a collection of what were four graphic novels, now collected in to one volume. There's a strong H.P.Lovecraft and Robert Howard kind of vibe in the undercurrent of this tale.
