Prior to the wisbear there was no such thing as her sleeping in her crib for longer than 30 minutes without waking all the way up.The first few days it was hard to know of it was helping or hurting, we did have a really bad napping day right after I started using it, but I didn't want to give up on it without knowing for sure what effect the wisbear was having, good or bad. I think after a few days she got used to it, and I also found the right volume that wasn't too quiet or too loud.We live by a road, on a hill, so there's lots of accelerating engine noise, it sort of startles her in her sleep if there's no white noise. The wisbear definitely could be loud enough to drown out the cars, I could even hear it from my living room through a closed door and over a box fan, but I found that was also too loud for her to stay asleep. The lowest volume I can't hear over the box fan in her room, not unless it's right by my ear, and that wasn't working for her either. I've found the best volume is loud enough I can hear it just standing by her crib, but not from across the room.The batteries have not died yet after a week of using it during naps and at night and occasionally forgetting to turn the bear off when she wakes up. Once I thought they had died but when I started to unscrew the compartment it started working again.Probably my favorite thing is the crysensor. It actually also responds to movement, so if she she starts moving around it will turn back on even if she hasn't made a noise yet. I think our biggest problem was she would wake up when transitioning between sleep cycles. Unless someone was holding her the whole time she slept to instantly soothe her when she stirred she would wake up instead of keep sleeping. The wisbear, for us, has taken over that mid-sleep settling to allow her to nap longer by herself.We don't use it to get her to sleep though. She is already asleep when we put her down and we just use the wisbear to help keep her asleep for longer than the 30 minutes she used to do. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Great sound, BUT over priced. *by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2018* I love the look of this bear and my son seems to enjoy playing with it. The sound is great and the speaker can get very loud if need be. We use it to put on the other side of the room, so the noise fills the room as our son sleeps. I feel this would be better priced at about $30 and here is why. There is only 1 button on the noise device, this makes it kind of confusing and aggravating sometimes trying to control the volume and the setting of the device. For $50 you would think they would have put a few buttons on it so it could be easily operated. The noise detection also is not the greatest, it does activate the white noise to play but in most cases its to late and our son is already awake, we have tried it right next to him as well and it seems to just not be sensitive enough. There are cheaper alternative that would work just the same, so if the price was dropped this could be a 4-5 star product, its just to expensive for what you get. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works wonderfully, but buy a pack of batteries. *by N***Y on Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2020* We love our Whisbear- it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty awesome, and I would recommend it, especially as a gift for new parents.PROS- the white noise is a great, neutral, TV static type sound. The volume can be adjusted up and down and doesn’t get crazy loud, but it is still loud enough to be effective.The cry sensor works. I credit this little bear (and Merlins magic suits) with teaching my 5 mo old twins to self-soothe. They cry a little, Whisbear turns on, and within a few moments they have settled down. If they are crying for a true reason, then they don’t settle down, and we go in, feed them, and put them back in bed.It’s cute and portable. The design is adorable, its magnetic paws help it stay on the side of the crib. It can easily go with us to the pack and play downstairs, to grandma’s house, etc.The sound machine portion is completely removable, making it a stuffie toy for later, or during playtime.CONS- it sucks through the batteries, not gonna lie. We go through a battery change every 2-3 weeks. It only takes 3 AAAs which isn’t bad, but, might I suggest gifting this with a nice large pack of em?I’m not certain I know how to deactivate the cry sensor, or if that’s even possible, which is only an issue when using the machine where other noises are present. So, for example, I can’t really use it for nap time downstairs when my older, noisy kids are present.
