I initially purchased this because I love how the artist draws puffy luxurious fur, and while the Chibi animal book is great, it doesn’t quite have the diversity in animal parts that this one does, and how to connect them. A definite benefit to this drawing book is that it never tells you to “just finish the owl”. Each step is easily replicable even for people like me who are very out of practice, and the style is easy to remix into your own preferences. The Top mothman is done following the tutorial, and the bottom is my first attempt at putting my own spin on it. And the subject matter makes practicing so fun! The only (minor) complaint I have is on eyes. A lot of creatures are drawn with closed eyes, which feels a little lazy to me. You will need to supplement with other books if you want to get good at giving your monsters open eyes. I usually hate the style in how to draw books, but this one is stinking cute from the first page to the last.
