## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the difference between the nv801 and nv803 model of this vacuum ?**
A: I just called Shark & was told there IS a DIFFERENCE in the nv801 & nv803! 9.5 amps & 1150 watts for both, but the 801 (made for several retailers, Kohl's & Macy's, etc.) does NOT include the Pet Power Brush or the Accessories Bag. Both include the Pet Multi-tool, Duster/dust crevice tool & Under Applicance Wand. Hope this is helpful.

**Q: How does this work on pet hair? Do you have to cut pet hair out of the roller after you vacuum?**
A: If there's a lot of hair you do have to cut it out. But what sold me on this model is there's a button to pop open the head, and another to pop out the rollers. There's a tool stored in the head, and each roller has a groove in it. All you have to do is run the tool through the groove and the hair cuts right off. It was 1000X easier to do than my old vacuum. I think the hair problem is pretty unavoidable with rollers involved but this is the best solution I've seen for clearing it out of there.

**Q: How about the hair tangling around the beater bar/brush roller? How easy is it to clean off ?**
A: It’s easy to pop the brush roll out of the vacuum to clean it. It comes with a tool, but it’s only effective for small amounts of hair. I get a lot of hair wrapped around the brush roll, so I finding it’s easy just to take scissors and cut through the hair to remove it.

**Q: And still no edge cleaning???**
A: That has not been an issue for me. If the sweeper can't get into the edge crevice, I would disconnect the hose from the sweeper and attach one of the furnished crevice tools, but edge cleaning has not been a problem so far.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Couldn’t be better!!
*by G***S on July 14, 2019*

First and foremost, this is the BEST vacuum I’ve ever used. Granted, I’ve only ever used a handful of vacuums but this one is incredible. I’ll do a pros and cons list at the bottom for those who don’t want to read this lengthy review.I bought this vacuum because I had the rare opportunity to try it first. I just moved into a new condo and the landlord accidentally left this behind in a closet. So after moving in and getting somewhat settled I decided I’d take it for a spin before giving it back. The place was very clean to the naked eye, I was mostly just vacuuming to get rid of the dirt tracked in and the broken little pieces of styrofoam all over from unpacking new furniture. I wasn’t expecting anything out of this vacuum and even if it was terrible it still would at least get rid of the styrofoam bits all over. So imagine my surprise when about a quarter of the way through the living room I had to empty the bin!! This thing was sucking up dust and hair that I couldn’t see and didn’t even know existed! I was honestly blown away and decided to go through the entire condo with it. It had to be emptied a few times but that told me that this thing was sucking up EVERYTHING, dust, dirt, and hair embedded deep in the carpet. Eventually I accidentally snagged a throw blanket that was under the bed and the brush roll light came on. Now this wasn’t my vacuum and I knew that I’d have to give it back to my landlord so I started to panic for a minute. “Hey, I broke your vacuum” isn’t the way I wanted to start my relationship with the landlord lol. So I took a look at the brush roll and it was absolutely entangled with hair, like you could have made a wig from the amount of hair stuck on this thing. I noticed two little buttons that said “brush roll access” and popped it open. The brush roll came right out and then I noticed the tiny little hair slicer above it. Immediately I was impressed, I wasn’t like “Damn, this company thought of everything!” So I cleaned out the brush roll no problem at all and kept cleaning. I used the “Lift Away” and an attachment to clean all the crevices where the carpet meets the wall and the parts of the stairs that the vacuum head couldn’t get to and then cleaned the vacuum and put it back in the closet. Eventually I did give the vacuum back to the landlord so I started shopping for my own. I saw that this was almost $300 and was pretty disappointed because I couldn’t really justify dropping that much money on a vacuum after just moving in and buying all new furniture. So I kept shopping around and ALMOST bought a cheap Chinese stick vacuum just to get me by. I liked the idea of not having a cord holding me back or getting in the way but after seeing what this Shark vacuum could do I just couldn’t settle for less. About a week later I noticed the vacuum had gone up to $300 and was disappointed again because now I was ready to bite the bullet and spend the money but the price went up. Then a few days later (Amazon can be funny like that) the price dropped back down to its sub-$300 price and was now offering 1 payment/month for 5 months and all of a sudden I could buy this immediately without worrying about the hit to my savings account! I bought it immediately and I’m so happy I did. I was borrowing a vacuum up until the other day just to get me by and it was a piece of junk. It was also a Shark vacuum but it was so old that when I looked at it I was like “THIS is a Shark..???” I’m sure it was fine in 2008 but it’s just MILES behind this new model. So if you’ve had a Shark in the past and weren’t happy with it, it might be time to give them another shot. And I don’t regret going with this over the stick vacuum either because since this one is corded, there’s never any power drop off. Expensive batteries never need to be replaced, and it’s good to go 24/7. And with the cord being so long, I can actually plug it in downstairs in the living room and it’ll make it all the way upstairs (and around a few corners) and a good way into my bedroom! So now I just plug it in in the living room, vacuum the tile floor in the kitchen and bathroom, then the carpet in the living room, then the stairs, upstairs hallway, and upstairs bathroom before I have to unplug it and vacuum the bedrooms. Super convenient!Cons: VERY honestly, I can’t think of any. I wish I could just for the integrity of this review but I’m genuinely 100% happy with this vacuum.Pros:Long cord- plug it into one outlet and you can get almost all of your cleaning done before you need to find another outlet.Attachments- Everything you could need is included and comes with a storage bag so you don’t lose anything.Modular- You can use it as a standard vacuum. Push a button and it lifts away to a carry vacuum, push another button and the wand is released which you can use with attachments to clean everything from crevices to furniture, to walls to under furniture. Push another button and the long wand releases to a smaller wand that accepts all the same attachments. Everything clicks together effortlessly and securely.Easy to clean- The bin is incredibly easy to empty and the brush roll is well thought out and convenient to clean.Maneuverability- This vacuum moves like a self propelled lawn mower! It glides forward with no effort at all and the head swivels and pivots intuitively. The vacuum will even go almost flat to reach under the bed or taller furniture.Led lights- the lights on the head of the vacuum are great and really help you see anything that you might have missed.I’m probably forgetting something because there’s so many great things about this vacuum but that should about sum it up. I’m confused about the negative reviews that this vacuum has because I’ve used two of this model and the one I had before I bought my own worked just as well as this one does out of the box, that says a lot about its longevity!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not much to find fault with, much to like! One addendum.

This household tool is so impressive, I'll take the time to write a thorough review of it's many multi-dimensional pros and cons.I am retiring a Hoover UH70400 which I use as comparison. To be fair, that Hoover cost less (it was $145.00 in 2012) than this Shark Ninja NV803. Keep this in mind as I compare with this Shark. I've had the Hoover for six years, still running fine, but wanted an updated product. On with the review...Pros:One thing I have never tried is the head-swivel feature so I was wary. In my research, other vacs with this feature were criticized as not easy to run in a straight line. No worry here! The swivel head is a great plus, quickly turning around corners or maneuvering around objects, and also easy going straight ahead. My retired Hoover would kick out stuff from the spinning brush on my short nap carpet and on tile. This Ninja sucked up everything. No kick-backing!There are three floor/carpet settings at the top of the handle on the Ninja. The Hoover would pull-up my area carpets, get very tough to move on thick wool carpets or get bogged down on some of the glue-down short nap carpet. No problem with those types of carpet here AT ALL! Yea!On my tile flooring, the short nap brush worked great! The Lift Away feature was fantastic. Under my rosewood settee and chairs, I could reach so easily with the pod off the roller-brush. Where the area carpet ends above the short nap carpet , I disengaged the wand, attached the upholstery brush and it worked fine in those hard to reach places. This also was necessary for the ends of the carpet where the weaving fibers hang loose.I was reaching under the breakfast-nook table when a cloth bag handle got wrapped into the roller. The roller stopped, warning light went on. Turned the vac off. There were two tabs on top of the roller head to expose the roller , they call it the 'roller garage cover', and the cloth unwound easily. There is a roller cleaning tool sitting right there to remove threads, hair or whatever from both rollers. Clever that they designed a groove in the roller which allows the tool (or scissors or knife) to get under the whatever got wrapped around. So came the silk carpets. The lowest setting, for hardwood/tile, allowed me to use the powered soft roller to go over the silk without damaging it. I can also use the disengaged wand and upholstery brush instead, or when I get to the loose tassels at the end of the silk or wool carpets. Then the stairway. I lifted away the motor pod, detached the short handle, and used the vacuum powered brush on the hardwood and the short nap runner walking upstairs with it. I don't think the stair runner has ever been this clean. Worked powerfully. Some other vacuum reviews criticized the weak performance of their vacuum-driven power head, but no problem with the Shark. Man, I felt great about this!Used the 'under-appliance' tool for under the fridge and stove. Under the fridge it found one more piece of that broken glass bowl. Sucked it right up. Nice. And there was some popcorn under the stove. Click-clack! Gone!Done vacuuming. Then came cleaning the bin. I'm a clean freak, so I clean totally after each major use. Easy to clean, really easy. Much easier than the Hoover, which with it's 'power turbo nozzles,' one could not clean all of it and cleaning took a long time with a bunch of parts to deal with.Shark uses LED's to light the carpet. Nice lighting. HEPA filter, nice!7 year warranty! Sweet! Shark has confidence in their quality control.I paid only $162.00 at Amazon (Nov.'2018, 30% off) because of damaged carton. Yea! Perfect inside!Cons: well the weight could be a con, mine weighs 15.2 lbs., but it rolls easily and does not get stuck on my heavy or thin carpets. So it's just pulling it out to use and putting it away that the weight was noticeable. No biggie for me. Because of the brush, the vac pulls itself forward on carpets, so that makes moving forward easy. Yes, you do have to pull it backward so there is work involved. If you hate cleaning a bag-less vacuum, you need a bag vac! But be aware with all the tiny particles that get sucked up, they fill the pores of the bag, reducing the efficacy of the motor way before the bag fills up. Just my observation. Still, if one did not have to clean the bag-less dust bin, that would be nice. Invent a vacuum-particle vaporizer and get rich.I don't prefer the color, didn't see a choice there. Cinnamon or dark red wine. Matches my rosewood and mahogany, so why would I complain. But I don't like it in plastic as much as in wood.So as you can see, not much to find fault with, much to like! Good price! I see why it gets 4.5 stars out of 800 reviewers. I give it a 5 of 5, or 9.5 out of 10.Addendum: Con: the dust bin is small, .9 L. Ordinary dust from my 1000 sq ft floor almost fills it. This is why Shark says to empty the bin after each use.Con: cord not self-rewind, but Pro: 3 lbs lighter because there's no mechanism to rewind.
