Yes you still need to put your detergent in the pre-wash dispenser. As a suggestion, you may also use Lemi Shine in the rinse cycle of your clothes washer too. To both the dishwasher and clothes washer, I add a very small amount of vinegar in with the Lemi Shine. This disinfects both dishes and clothes and make clothes soft, thus eliminating putting in fabric softner. The Lemi Shine covers the smell of the vinegar in your clothes. Together, these two things whiten and brighten clothes. Both or just the Lemi Shine also cleans both washers and make them work much better. I only received one bottle. I see other customers have had the same issue. Someone filling the orders isn’t doing a very good job at Amazon. I contacted customer service and they are supposed to be sending out a replacement order with the 12 bottles in it. I told the customer service representative I hope they send the correct amount this time. His response was “don’t worry”. Well I am worried! I’m not paying $27.10 for one bottle. That’s just crazy!!! I will believe it when I see it. I will update my review once the reorder comes in. That part of the review was on Amazons fulfillment of the order properly. The product itself works great. I have been using it in my dishwasher for probably 15 years. I put a tablespoon of it in with a tablespoon of powdered detergent in the dispenser cup and my dishes come out sparkling.
