There is a protrusion that sticks out about 1/4", about 3/8" diameter. This rubber sleeve protects the wires coming out the back. 3 holes must be drilled to mount this lamp.I mounted this on the back of my class-8 truck (Freightliner) as a marker, and it works just fine. A caveat- there is a "nub" sticking out the back of the lamp, it is a rubber sleeve that protects the power wires as they exit the housing. To mount on a flat surface a hole must be drilled to pass the wires thru the mounting surface. I drilled a 7/16 hole, no big deal unless the mounting surface is 1/2" plate steel,as was mine. Also, two 3/16 holes to accommodate the (not included) mounting bolts. The lamp works fine, easy 2-wire hook-up, and the ground wire is marked. Easy to install to my bumper on my service truck. I drilled a hole for wires and mounted it with 2 self taped screws. I did not have the most ideal place to mount it but it has held up to my steel toe boots kicking it when I get into the bed of the truck. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Quality *by L***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2017* Seems good, time will tell. Take note of the warning about the wires coming out the back. If mounting to a solid surface, you absolutely will have to drill a 5/16" hole for the wires.
