Will this unit travel the length of the belt for designing? Do I need a jig to hold it perfectly straight?** A: A jig of some sort would be a pretty good idea, for the easiest alignment, but not strictly necessary. To burn designs the full length of the belt, you will need to use registration marks so you can line up each section. The unit has a preview mode that casts light down to show exactly where the design will be burned, so this is easier than it may sound. With the rolling base, you might even be able to burn the whole design at once, provided you are able to get it to grip and move it reliably; this would likely work, if you leave the reverse side a bit rough. Alternately, if you built a wooden frame jig for the belt to lay in, the rollers would probably move it along without any trouble at all! **Q: Can you create custom images?** A: Yes, you can. You can import your customized images in the app as G-code/JPG/JPEG etc. **Q: Does it work good to engrave or even etch on glass mugs and cups?** A: Yes, it can! Actually it doesn't etch the glass but you cover the glass with fingernail polish, tempera paint or similar dark color material. The laser cuts a stencil in the material. then you use etching solution for a few minutes on the glass, that will etch it. Next you wash off the dark coloring leaving a nice etched piece. Go to Facebook, look for the LaserPecker group. Hit the magnifying glass at the top and search for etching glass. It will show you many cases of completed LP glass etching. **Q: Does it work for pet Id tags ?** A: Painted and anodized tags can be engraved to silver. OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! *by G***G on July 26, 2023* I am absolutely blown away by how compact and light weight the unit is. It made me skeptical at first since I doubted anything this size could handle harder materials like stone (but it does with ease!). Second, the quality of build and intuitive controls make this a breeze to set up and start operating. As others have said, you can be up and going within 10-15minutes and that's taking your time. After doing some test runs on the provided materials (also very much appreciated), I set up a slate coaster to see how it would perform. Initially I had set the unit on too high a resolution (2k) and too small but once I figured out my mistake, the subsequent tester was so easy! A few things I wanted to bring up (not so much that they are issues as little grievances). The included hood with fan is much appreciated but it's so effective that I can not see the previews. I guess raising/lowering to view isn't too complicated, but I just want to be sure I'm not wearing things out prematurely. *EDIT* Customer service contacted me and explained how to adjust the brightness so previews are legible through the hood. Super easy adjustment on the app and I can't believe I didn't see it* Last, if it would be possible to have increments labeled on the laser's stand for quick reference, that would be appreciated (I used blue painter's tape to mark my settings for now). Overall, this has been a great investment. I have branded coasters (slate), leather patches, glasses and stainless mugs, and my phone cover with flawless results. It'd be hard to beat this level of quality at this price.
