So was it the rope or the thimble? All items, both ropes and the thimbles were purchased advertised as 1/2". I didn't get a micrometer out to figure it out, but be aware it may not fit your quality 1/2" rope. Because it fit my one so called 1/2" rope I simply ordered a pair of 5/8" thimbles for the other 1/2" rope.The other reason I gave it a 4 was I had to remove some very slight burrs on the inside edge of the thimbles, no big deal but I'm a perfectionist and could envision my rope getting cut over time by the burr.
