The birthday cake flavor does have a nice buttery sweet fragrance. It tastes like a nice, smooth coffee with a cake-y buttercream aftertaste. I do make my coffee in a french press using a cold brew methods to reduce the acid and make iced coffee or lattes. Perhaps that makes the flavors stronger than traditional hot coffee? I also enjoy mixing the coffee with a splash of flavor syrup or flavored creamer in addition to milk. It seems to enhance the existing flavor in the coffee. Also for the price (especially if it's a Warehouse Deals closeout)it's a great deal and makes a wonderful gift.
