There are 24 various pieces and the string and braided bracelets are made with waxed cord. The strings were very snug so I went ahead and opened and closed each one to make sure they would work and not fall apart. Mission successful! Pretty colors and styles and little charms mean you could give all 24 to the same person and she would have a wide variety to choose from and mix and match. I did get one duplicate (and one of my least favorites at that) but since I'm not giving them all the the same gal, I'm the only one bummed by it.
