The color is really taupe, the velvet appears to be sturdy and unlikely to shred or peel, and they are slim. My only complaint is that the neck length can vary about a 1/3" between one hanger and the next so when the hangers are in the closet, the shoulders of the hangers bob up and down like notes on a scale. It doesn't affect the hangers usefulness, but sheesh. Most people who buy a product like this value uniformity so this seems like a particularly strange and easily corrected quality assurance problem.
