## Description

Launched in 1976, the CEC chorus ensemble was not only the world’s first chorus effect pedal, but also the very first BOSS Pedal. Three years later, this inventive new sound was squeezed into the Blue ce-2 chorus, and chorus pedals have remained in the compact lineup ever since. Four decades on, the spacious modulated tone of the signature BOSS effect is still loved by musicians everywhere. In 2016, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BOSS innovation, the original analog chorus sounds are now reborn with the WAZA craft CE-2W. The ce-2w’s standard mode faithfully recreates the classic ce-2 chorus sound, and adds an expansive new sound field with stereo output, which was unavailable in the mono ce-2. Ce-1 mode fully reproduces the stereo chorus and vibrato sounds of the legendary ce-1, with the addition of variable chorus depth not available in the original pedal. To commemorate the birth of BOSS effects, The CE-2W is made exclusively in Japan, just as the original ce-1 and ce-2 were.

Review: Perhaps the best chorus pedal on the market - The CE-2W is the ideal chorus for a variety of applications. Classic 80's chorus tones are easily accessible but without any of the quirks of vintage chorus pedals. The control layout is easy to use and it is built to last, rugged, easy to operate, and versatile. With the classic Boss footprint and switching it is familiar and user-friendly. There are lots of famous chorus sounds that can be obtained with the CE-2W. The chorus bassline from songs like "Don't Stop Believin'" is easy to duplicate. You can duplicate old-school Jazz Chorus-style tones. You can also use it as a rotary speaker simulator at more intense settings. Though this particular chorus is more pricey than some other CE-2 type choruses, the extra cost is well worth it. I can't think about much I would change about the CE-2W.
Review: Just like original CE2 plus more and silent in the pedal chain - This Waza version fixes all the drawbacks of the original but retains essentially the same classic and sought after sound. I have a mid 1980s CE2 that I love and that sounds incredible but is noisy in my pedal chain and requires the old Boss ACA power adapter voltage. The Waza version sounds just as good (not quite as warm but real close), takes a regular 9v adapter and is noise free in my pedal chain. Plus, the Waza version has the CE1 and custom chorus sounds if you want chorus on steroids or something that can sound like a rotary speaker. This has prompted me to order the Waza DM2 delay and has generated interest in other Waza pedals. I will probably try the blues driver BD2w or SD1w sooner than later. And I will certainly look at some of the others like the DimensionC.

## Features

- Premium all-analog circuitry with bucket-brigade (BBD) delay line

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can the ce2w use 18v?**
A: It takes 9v only. Anything higher will damage the pedal.

Typically higher voltage is reserved for things like boosts, compressors and certain drive pedals.

**Q: Will this pedal work with a PSA 120s power adapter?**
A: Yes. That is what I'm using to connect most pedals

**Q: Can this pedal be used for Synth (bass)?**
A: I suppose you could, but it might not sound as you might like. You’d have to test it.

**Q: Hi! Is ce2w digital or analog?**
A: I just read about it on 4 different websites and they claimed it is all analog circuitry besides this would be a high price for digital, look it up on Google and see for yourself

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth full price
*by K***M on August 29, 2025*

After a few days of playing around with it... Price/Features: The price becomes justifiable when you treat it as the multi-effect. Were it just a simple CE2 clone, the cost would feel a little steep. But, to me, there is clear difference between all three modes. The CE2 mode has a subtle almost flanger-like sound. The CE1 mode is the pinnacle of that 'lush' buzzword that is often used to describe chorus pedals. The Vibrato mode inherently increases the rate of the modulation and sounds great as well. I was surprised by this, because I expected to almost never use this mode. I actually really enjoy it and use it often. Interface/Enclosure: I'm a big fan of having less knobs. I get option paralysis with those bigger and more sophisticated digital effects. The two knobs Boss gives you are all you need. Great sounds can be found across the entire sweep of both controls. The iconic Boss pedal enclosure needs no review. There's a reason it hasn't changed in 40+ years. Comparison: I would take this over my Walrus Julia and the approximations from my Strymon Mobius and Strymon Deco every time. The CE-2W beats all three, hands down. It's the sound I hear in my head when I think "chorus".
