The quilt design is all the rage this year and you can't beat an 850 fill down bag that weights just under 16 ounces. I switched to this bag after sending my overkill 15 degree bag in mid may and it served me well, even in the white mountains when some nights dipped into the low 40s. That being said, I feel it's true temp rating is around 40 degrees. You may be able to push it to the mid 30s if you layer a down jacket with hood and are shorter than 6'0", as with the foot box and head compartment synched I had to assume a semi-fetal position during one night in the white mountains that dropped in to the high 30's with the wind-chill.Fit:I'm 6'2'' 190 pounds and it was just long and wide enough. I'm a size 42 chest with medium sized shoulders. I'd say this bag is perfect for someone a little smaller than me? Let's say under 6" and under 180# but I made it work and its my favorite bag in my collection hands down.Cost:Of all the gearheads I talked to on the AT, all would agree this is a ridiculous deal at $100. I'll probably buy a couple more as the technology can't really get any lighter than this for the fill quality.Design:In short: love it! Having the quilt design with the "open" compartment that lies facing your sleeping pad, it is more efficient than a traditional sleeping bag that fully surrounds you, because after the down is compressed (ie. the part you lie on) there is minimal to no insulating properties of the down at that point. Having the option to undo the zipper at the bottom and unstrap the clips are perfect to allow for a full on quilt for those warmer nights. The drawstring on the foot box is a HUGE bonus to allow for the perfect amount of ventilation to keep you dry and warm throughout the night. The option to synch the shoulder/head compartment is awesome too if taking it down to those 40 degree days.Drawnbacks-The only one being there aren't multiple sizes for those who are ultra weight conscious. I could see them making a smaller size for those 5'2''-5'7'' that could save 2-3 ounces in material. Also, I didn't have a scale to confirm weight. Lastly, it's white... I mean everything gets trashed thru-hiking anyway so its nbd but ANY other color option would be nice."Wearable"- True. Wear it whenever possible and enjoy the trail names. I wore it for shits and gigs the one night and everyone had a good laugh. My one buddy said I looked like a hot pocket and he didn't know if she should smile or throw me in a microwave for 130. Some section hikers asked if they could take pictures with the Michelin man. All jokes aside, another tip is that you could reasonably let this replace a down jacket if going ultralight in warmer weather camping like early to mid-fall depending where you're at.Wrap-up.- You can't go wrong with this 850 fill goose down sleeping bag. It weights under a pound and is extremely versatile. I'd recommend not taking it out in conditions lower than 42-45 degrees F unless you have a solid liner (which I didn't). Cheers and happy trails! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great quilt out of the box, and a fun DIY project, too *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2018* I received exactly the product that I expected: a well-made goose-down quilt that weighed just under a pound. The down tubes are sewn through, and I estimated that its loft would keep me warm down to about 40 degrees Fahrenheit, if I slept in a warm hat, t-shirt, shorts and socks. That is a very useful bag for most of my summer trips. The zipper to transform the quilt into a thermal poncho could be quite useful on chilly mornings and evenings in camp.But I already had a quilt with roughly those specifications, so I undertook a Do-It-Yourself project to upgrade this quilt. I purchased (from Amazon) 12 ounces of 700-fill goose down for $42, and used half of it. This quilt is constructed with five U-shaped tubes. I opened each one of the five with a seam ripper, and added an appropriate amount of goose down to each: just under an ounce in the shortest tube, up to about 1.5 ounces in the long tube, for a total of 6 additional ounces of goose down. If I held the original bag by its top edge and shook it vigorously, the down would settle about 25% of the way down each tube. After adding the additional down, it stayed quite near the top, even with fervent shaking. The tubes are now fully stuffed.The result is a bag that weighs just under 22 ounces, that I estimated would keep me warm down to about 20 degrees. I am 6 feet 4 inches tall and weigh 220 pounds. I slept in it last night on a self-inflating sleeping pad wearing a warm hat, t-shirt, shorts and socks. In the morning two different thermometers both indicated 22 degrees Fahrenheit, and I was comfortably warm. This is my definition of a 20-degree bag. I'm delighted with my new quilt.I hope that this company will offer variations of this basic design. One reviewer already mentioned various sizes; if the current size is a Medium, that reviewer wanted a Small, and I would happily purchase a Large. They could also offer different amounts of fill. I think that four or five ounces of 850 fill down would take this sewn-through design from 40 degrees down to 20 degrees; any more down would merit a design with baffles. I would be delighted if at least one side of the quilt were black: that color more rapidly absorbs the radiated heat in sunlight to dry the bag in case of disaster. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bought one, then bought another, both delivered very quickly. *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2017* Light, clean.
