I began by reformatting the drive, as it is known that some USB devices ship with malware installed. However, it failed to handle the backups for which I intended it. I tried reformatting it in several ways, and carried out a number of experiments in my effort to get it performing effectively in any fashion. I tried it on my laptop as well as my desktop, and never could get it working properly. It is slow, slow, slow; I have now been waiting for two hours for it to delete 150 GB of files; it took eight hours to save those files onto the thumb drive.Perhaps this device has special formatting requirements and cannot be expected to function with conventional formatting; if so, this should be prominently displayed on the sales page and on the packaging. After a while the drive just stops working. I get errors galore. Something about the drive being corrupted, something about the "super block" cannot be read. Seriously, I have never had to much trouble with a USB ever. The price was right but not really when the drive is worthless and cannot store data for longer than 2 days.
