It's simple: one floats on water, and one does not. They are much softer and tackier than other earplugs. Most importantly, they are easy to use and BLOCK WATER!

Review: Perfect for ear surgery! - I anticipate using these for many years to come! My child had ear surgery and has to have their ear protected against water for several months. We started using them post-surgery, but my kid likes how they keep water from bothering their ears in general. Other brands' pluggies were uncomfortable, being stiffer and less malleable. The Putty Buddies are perfectly soft and comfortable. Each single plug lasts us about 2 weeks'-worth of baths/pool/water play before it gets too sticky/falls apart. They fit perfectly into the outer ear and really seal the water out. They seem to give a decent amount of sound reduction because my kid doesn't like to hear me when two pluggies are in. We like to use them with an Ear Band-it, just to make sure they stay secure, but they stay pretty well on their own too. The would be pretty discreet if they were a different color, but my kiddo wanted hot pink, so they're loud and proud. They do look really nice though.

**Q: Appropriate for a two year-old?**
A: If you believe it appropriate for a two year-old to be swimming and want them to have earplugs, these seem as appropriate for kids and young children as they are for adults. They are soft enough. Knead them between your fingers first, before applying, to soften them a bit further.

**Q: Do these fit an infant?**
A: The putty can be split to a smaller size and remolded by hand to adjust fit.

**Q: Can I dive in the water with these ear plugs in and will they stay in?**
A: If you get them stuck in well enough, maybe. I would say they would come loose with diving. We use them with a headband. They are super easy to use and comfortable, they stay in well with a headband over them. They fill up the outer part of the ear to seal it off, they don't really go in like a traditional ear plug.

**Q: Why aren't these fsa eligible when my child's ent is who told me to get them?**
A: These actually broke pieces off in my daughter’s ear. Leading to surgery to remove them. Doctor’s say no one should wear these.
