I've been dealing with this kind of lighting for about 15-20 years. One of my current magnetic ballasts apparently burned out. After I ordered this ballast I figured out that my timer was bad and replaced it, and my old magnetic ballast still works. But I usually keep backup bulbs and a spare ballast on hand, so when I received this Xtrahydro 1000w ballast, I installed it, and the ballast turned on but the bulb didn't fire. So I unplugged it and waited about 15 minutes and put in a good light from another fixture and it didn't fire either. Finally I hooked this ballast up to another fixture where I KNEW the cable, the fixture, and the light were all good, and the bulb didn't fire. I had the brightness set at 100% and never changed it.So the ballast did not work.
