Luckily, I only bought this to carry my nursing school CD's and DVD's in, so I don't have to carry all those crazy plastic cases. This item does the job and will help any student lug fragile CD's and DVD's around school - while carrying an 80 lb book-bag. Other than for efficiency and for taking up a small space, I wouldn't recommend this for someone who isn't using this for mobility purposes. Jewel cases go to hell when riding around on your backseat or otherwise; fast.The Discus is has a rubber/sticky coating on it that is very light, yet keeps it from sliding around on the carpet. It stays put; so great that I can even use it to keep other stuff from rolling around, just by placing it next to something else. Plus it's durable, I doubt it would break even if I dropped it accidentally. My only concern is that the edges of my CD touch the hard plastic hinges, everything else is contained by the nice felt CD slips, they also don't scratch the CD's so that's good.Overall, I am very impressed with the item.
