It is brand new has not been washed. Is is possible for this device to stretch it to 33 inches?** A: Yes you can . I like to first attach the stretcher and do a few starter turns of the rod to get the pants to look like the picture. but you need hot water and i just dip up to the waistband in the tub . Don't just rush the job. don't just keep turning at one sitting .... stretch the wet waistband till it gets a bit hard to turn the rod . return in about 3 hours and the rod will turn easier as the waistband has given and has stretched . return and do again in a few hours. you can stretch many waistbands a lot bigger than just an inch if you do it over about 8 hours. Remember that stretching doesn't remain fully stretched forever, and after each laundry session insert the stretcher while the pants dry. **Q: do you just button or snap your jeans and stretch? Wont that break the button or snap? picture does not show how that is done.** A: yes, the jeans have to be buttoned or snapped to be able to stretch the fabric (fabric has to be wet). Stretch to the point where the button or snap look stretched or pulled (an inch or two) that would be enough, and let it air dry. See Spanky's response.
