It has an alarm function but I don't see that I would ever use it, the buttons on the bottom of the unit would be the method of programming, which is too cumbersome. However, I bought it to be a light and having the date, time and temperature is a helpful combination.It does look and function fairly well, otherwise, and looks pretty decent. Some things from China are poor quality and obviously cheap, but so far this unit seems to be okay. Will see how it holds up to use over time. I have it in the living room and it will do this while watching tv or go to bed with it off at night and get up in the morning and it will be on. I took off a star because it seems (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the display itself has only one brightness setting, which is a bit annoying when I want to sleep and I have this display still acting as a nightlight.
