## Description

The Tripod Collar A (White) for Canon 400mm & 70-200mm Lenses from Vello is designed for the Canon 400mm f/5.6 L, 70-200mm f/4 L IS, and 70-200mm f/4 L lenses. The ring makes rotating your lens easier and the built-in tripod collar improves lens balance by screwing into the tripod mount. This collar has vertical alignment marks for quickly changing the orientation from horizontal to vertical. Using the included bushing, either a 3/8" or a 1/4" tripod mount can used. Improves Lens BalanceThe ring secures your lens to the camera's tripodGives Your Camera Setup Better BalanceThe ring adds stability to your camera and lens. The ring attaches to the tripod and can be shifted to adjust the balance.RotationHaving the camera secured with a ring around the lens makes it possible to rotate the lens between landscape and portrait modes without removing the camera from the tripod. The friction thumbscrews can then be tightened to secure the camera in the desired position. Review: Clearance issue when using BG-E13 - This is worth the savings. I can't directly compare it to the Canon version, because I've never handled the Canon version. But, there's really no point in purchasing the more expensive "name brand," unless it is free from the minor design flaw I have noticed. First, it appears to be well-made and durable. I don't envision having any (other) problems with it due to its quality. Here's the minor design flaw: (Anyone with a Canon 6D should take note) My set-up is a Canon 6D and a EF 70-200mm F/4 L IS, with a BG-E13 battery grip, and a Manfrotto ball head (the model escapes me at the moment). The BG-E13 battery grip sticks out a bit more at the bottom than the 6D body itself, and with the collar mounted on the lens, and my quick-release plate on said collar, I can't mount it to the ball head. I guess you could say this may be a design flaw in any one of the related components. I'd put it on the collar, seeing as how it's a simple matter of creating a tad more clearance. What happens is, the BG-E13 sticks out, and the footing of the collar is right in line with it, making it impossible for me to release the clamping mechanism on my ball head and still mount the collar while on the lens and camera. The solution is that I have to mount the collar on the ball head first, then slip my lens/camera set-up into the collar. Even in doing that, the BG-E13 makes contact with my ball head's clamping mechanism...it appears to be putting some pressure on the grip. I suspect with repeated use, this will lead to some minor cosmetic damage to the grip. I hope I'm articulating this well enough. At any rate, I am not sure if anyone else has the same set-up as me and is using the Canon version. It's possible that the Canon model has no clearance issue. Without the battery grip, there is no clearance issue at all.
Review: Weird green/white color but it’s a good buy... - Mush less costly than Canon’s piece... weird green tint to the white paint but a really good value.
