Review: Train your packing team, not to use paper pouches - The product is fine, however it was shipped in a paper pouch, and was filthy by the time it reached my address. Also, because it was not shipped in a small cardboard box, the box of Knox Geletin was dented, slighted crunched. Fortunately, the contents, the 32 packets were fine.
Review: for a tiny box with four teeny envelopes of Knox gelatin you would be paying close to two bucks--this is really very good value. - Exactly what it says on the packaging. A full pound of gelatin per can--I bought a case of two since I have lots of uses for this. Considering that at even the cheapest stores, for a tiny box with four teeny envelopes of Knox gelatin you would be paying close to two bucks--this is really very good value. Gelatin has tons of other uses besides desserts--for example, anyone familiar with 'face strips' that are moistened, stuck on the face, and peeled off when dry to reveal stuff from your pores that the strips picked up--should know that you can make a mask with the same effects for pennies using gelatin. Mix a tablespoon of gelatin with a tablespoon of milk--maybe a little more milk than gelatin; microwave just a few seconds, and stir. Do this a couple of times until the gelatin is a paste, and quite warm. Make sure it's not hot enough to burn your face; apply to your face as a mask (it usually helps if you give your face a quick wash first, so the gelatin sticks better). If the gelatin sets too quickly, re-heat the little bit that's started to set, and continue using. Let this dry on your face thoroughly, and peel off. Excellent results. Oh, same principle also applies to Halloween special-effects makeup. Try same ratio mixture; experiment with the goop and fascinating effects globs of it can have on your face, especially with a little color added. And, it won't clog up your pores or irritate your skin like thick cream special effects makeup can. Try adding food-safe colors in tiny amounts to the gelatin for different effects before applying. Note, though, that some food colors can stain more than others, so try the 'gelatin' makeup on an area of skin that's not your face to confirm that when you eventually peel it off you won't have greenish tinted skin for a bit and that your skin isn't sensitive to food-safe color. ` Again, anyone who regularly cooks with, or uses gelatin for other purposes, the 16 oz cans (whether in one or two pack) make excellent sense and a great value. Also, unless it's been exposed to moisture, pure gelatin doesn't really ever 'expire'--not sure if this has been pointed out by another reviewer, but the 'expiration' dates on gelatin have more to do with the amount of time the packaging is judged to be totally secure, than the product itself. No problems with the cans so far, but if I don't finish the can(s) before expiration date, just plan to move them to a different, well-sealed container.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many tablespoons do you use to help with bulging discs**
A: Nick, I realize I'm "slightly" late in answering your question. But I'll do it anyway, even though you'll likely never see my words (but maybe someone will read this and be helped by my message). The doctor I first listened to, who introduced me and others to the idea that Knox Unflavored Gelatin might help arthritis sufferers (no mention of bulging discs, though) said the daily amount to take is three (3) tablespoons mixed in your beverage of choice. (At the time, the doctor addressed a large group of people in a lecture hall.) Back when I was using Knox every day, my beverages of choice were orange juice and apple juice. Unfortunately, over a year had passed between hearing the lecture and actually starting a daily Knox regimen. During that time, I had, unfortunately, forgotten what the recommended daily dose was. Eventually, after trying to remember the doctor's words, I took an educated guess and settled on 1.5 tablespoons daily. So that's what I took for about 6 months. After 3 months, and after having suffered from advancing osteoarthritis in my right hand for more than 20 years; the result was that my arthritic hand was virtually free of pain. What had eventually grown to become an utter nightmare of constant, searing pain was finally gone. That was over 17 years ago, and the pain to the affected area of my right hand (which had been concentrated around the middle knuckle of my middle finger) never returned. Now, however, all these years later, I began experiencing constant moderate pain in the thumb joints of both hands. So currently my plan is to return to Knox Unflavored Gelatin for help. (I waited this long hoping it would go away on its own. It didn't!!!) As I said, the amount of daily Knox the doctor told everyone to take was 3-tablespoons, not the 1.5 TBS I took. One of my co-workers has been using one TEASPOON of Knox daily for the past 3+ months for arthritis in his arms, legs, shoulders, neck and back. He says the Knox is definitely helping him. I would not recommend that small amount of Knox to anyone, though. The minimum I would take for myself is 1 TBS. So now, back to your bulging discs question. Try the Knox for 3 months and let us know what your experience is. By the way, I recently saw on TV an advertisement for a vaccine for a more-or-less common ailment (it might have been shingles or possibly hepatitis-C). The warning at the end said the vaccine is not recommended for people allergic to gelatin. Gelatin??? I never heard of a gelatin allergy before. Isn't that like being allergic to Jello!? Anyway, you should all be aware of this before consuming either Jello or gelatin. On August 28, 2015, Jeff B. remarked that he and his wife thought the Knox product from Amazon was fake and that it did not have the same effect as the Knox gelatin purchased from the grocery store. You can click on Jeff's name and see exactly what he had purchased and consumed, and then declared as fake. Jeff and his wife took what my co-worker currently takes, what I had taken those many years ago, and what I have recommended to so many people I know (and what I am now about to take again). The many friends, family and co-workers I've recommended this to all benefited from this product. IT IS NOT FAKE!!! The grocery store KNOX is identical to the Amazon Knox, except the 1-pound container from Amazon is packaged in a quantity suitable for restaurants and institutional use. I bought mine years ago from Smart & Final. Why Jeff B. would call this fake is beyond comprehension. Who on earth would ever fake "gelatin." All Jeff would have had to do to prove, one way or the other, the quality of the Knox product is make Jello with it.

**Q: is Knox the same as pectin**
A: Gelatin (or gelatine, from Latin: gelatus = stiff, frozen) is a translucent, colorless, brittle (when dry), flavorless solid substance, derived from collagen obtained from various animal by-products. It is commonly used as a gelling agent in food, pharmaceuticals, photography, and cosmetic manufacturing. Substances containing gelatin or functioning in a similar way are called gelatinous. Gelatin is an irreversibly hydrolysed form of collagen, and is classified as a foodstuff. It is found in most gummy candies as well as other products such as marshmallows, gelatin dessert, and some ice cream, dip and yogurt. Household gelatin comes in the form of sheets, granules, or powder. Instant types can be added to the food as they are; others need to be soaked in water beforehand. Pectin (from Ancient Greek: πηκτικός pēktikós, "congealed, curdled"1) is a structural heteropolysaccharide contained in the primary cell walls of terrestrial plants. It was first isolated and described in 1825 by Henri Braconnot.2 It is produced commercially as a white to light brown powder, mainly extracted from citrus fruits, and is used in food as a gelling agent particularly in jams and jellies. It is also used in fillings, medicines, sweets, as a stabilizer in fruit juices and milk drinks, and as a source of dietary fiber.

**Q: Hello, Can this be mixed in with a smoothie to help hide the texture abit? Also if I mix this and just soak my nails in it will it help as well?**
A: Yes, it can be mixed into a smoothie to hide the granulated texture if you are taking it as a supplement. I would recommend either sprinkling it into the blender slowly as it mixes, or 'blooming' the powder in cold liquid first, otherwise it may clump.
Obviously, if your goal is to thicken your smoothie, you would have to dissolve the gelatin in hot liquid first and then refrigerate the smoothie (but I don't think that is what you are asking).
Gelatin helps build strong nails, hair, and joint cartilage by providing your body with raw materials for these structures. It is not a topical treatment and will have no effect whatsoever if applied externally (No, you can't improve your nails by soaking them in gelatin).

**Q: it made from pork or cow?**
A: Pork

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Knox Blox staple carrying on family traditions just like we all recall
*by L***F on April 24, 2026*

Perfect for Homemade “Knox Blox” – A Family Favorite Tradition I purchased Knox Unflavored Gelatin specifically to learn how to make my sister-in-law’s famous “Knox Blox” Jello, and it turned out absolutely perfect. This product delivers exactly what you need for that classic firm, sliceable texture that makes Knox Blox so nostalgic and fun to eat. My husband grew up loving these…his mom used to make them when he was a kid, and now that she’s no longer with us, his sister has carried on the tradition. Being able to learn how to make them myself using this gelatin has been really meaningful, and I’m happy to say the results were just like he remembers. The gelatin dissolves easily, has no flavor of its own, and sets consistently every time. It’s versatile, reliable, and a must-have if you’re recreating family recipes or trying something new. If you’re looking to make Knox Blox or any recipe that calls for unflavored gelatin, this is a great choice. It helped me bring a special memory back to life in our home, and that alone makes it worth it.
