When mixing them together (gently) with your brush, you should see the makeup start to come off. Then transfer the brush to the purple glove and gently move it around to clean the bristles. You can run some water over this to ensure that the glove doesn't get overly soapy and your brushes get rinsed out.I really like this set, it is easy to use and it makes something that I find very frustrating into abbot so daunting task.The brush holder is super cool because it allows you to hang your brushes upside down to dry, which will keep the bristles in much better condition. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great invention *by G***8 on Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2017* Just as described. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a great combo to help keep your brushes clean! *by K***M on Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2018* These work great together to keep my brushes clean. You have to peel the brown layer off the stand -- which they notified me about by email about a month after I purchased it. I appreciate them telling me, but the notice came a bit late. I had already read other reviews so I was aware of the issue, but some people have said they thought the drying stand was made from cardboard when they first saw it. It does take some effort to get that brown layer off -- I ended up soaking mine in water for awhile to make it easier. Anyway, once that is peeled off, it's easy to assemble the pieces to make the stand. The legs fit nice and tight into the top piece so you can pick the entire thing up and it won't come apart. That is convenient because once my brushes are all washed, I put them in the stand all at once. You want to be sure that you always dry your brushes upside down so that water doesn't get in the ferule part of the brush -- it's difficult for it to evaporate once it gets in there and can end up harboring bacteria and mildew. Once the brushes are in the stand, they do dry faster and I find they keep their shape nicely (you should shape them while they are still wet).The glove is great for cleaning the brushes because there are several different areas that work better for different types of brushes. I use the Ecotools shampoo when I'm cleaning my brushes, but if you don't have that, I find a simple baby shampoo works great as well. Something without a lot of harsh ingredients. I used to use the store brand baby shampoo from Whole Foods and it worked really well. Anyway, after cleaning and rinsing your brushes, you can use the area of the glove between the thumb and hand to help squeeze out excess water. I typically wash all my brushes first before shaping them and putting them in the stand. I find it's easier to shape them with my hands so I do it after I take the glove off. Then I put them in the stand all at once so I don't have to keep picking it up. Just makes things faster, which I appreciate because I wash my brushes about once a week. Also, I recommend washing your brushes at your kitchen sink instead of your bathroom sink because the countertop is higher and your back won't hurt when you're done. Maybe that's just me, but washing my brushes in my bathroom sink means I'm kind of bending forward and it just ends up hurting when I'm done.As for drying time, that depends on where you live and how humid it is. I'm in Colorado where it's pretty dry, so if I wash my brushes in the evening and put them in the drying stand, they're typically all dry by morning. I find with the thicker brushes, it helps to dry them off by just gentle swishing them back and forth on a microfiber towel to remove excess moisture. This will definitely help them dry faster if you don't have a ton of time to just let the water evaporate. If I do this with all my brushes, I can use the smaller ones within a couple of hours. And it's so nice to use clean brushes. It makes such a huge difference in how well your makeup goes on.I definitely recommend these products -- the price is great and the stand comes apart so it doesn't take much room to store these.
