We record both services each Sunday on a 1 TB iMac with the first service averaging 2-4GB and the second 5-8GB. I purchased these last year to begin an archiving project to free up disk space. All archiving was done using the same iMac DVD burner, and the iMac runs pure OSX with nothing other than Apple applications and our recording software.I've now gone through two of the 50-pack TDK dual layer disks, 50 Kodak, and 50 Optical Quantum. All three products had "unexpected errors" making the disk useless and requiring a new disk for the burn. Failures were spread across the disks with no two disks failing sequentially (except as noted below). Here is the success rate for the 3 products:This product (TDK)Total disks used=100; total failures=8 Kodak 50121 Double Layer DVD+R DL Β (Kodak)Total disks used=50; total failures=5 Optical Quantum DVD+R DL Double Layer Logo Top Spindle - 50 pack Β (Optical Quantum)Total disks used=50; total failures=8I also have now triedΒ  Memorex 32020013382 8.5 GB 8 X Double Layer DVD+R - 50 Pack Spindle Β (Memorex), and experienced 3 failures in the first 3 burn attempts. I have added a separate review under that product with details. Since I didn't bother trying any more burns, I don't have a failure rate for 50 disks, but I definitely do not recommend the product since I was able to burn the exact same file successfully on the same drive using a TDK disk, after the 3 Memorex failures. During this time, only 1 of the 200+ Verbatim single layer disks I have been burning in the same burner have had such an error. I point this out to allow that the dual layer burn may be a factor in the rate of failures, rather than the actual disks. In one case, I had two sequential failures on dual-layer Optical Quantum discs when trying to use almost the full capacity of the disk, with the failures occurring near the end of the burn. After zipping the file, I was able to burn to another OQ dual layer disc successfully.Based on the numbers above, I can neither recommend or discourage purchase of these disks. Of the three, this product had a lower failure rate. I would like to compare the Verbatim dual-layer disks, but they are a bit pricier. I will continue to update this review as I test more brands. I was very skeptical with all the reviews on various brands of dual layer discs and was fearful of getting and spindle of coasters. I successfully burned through all 50 discs with only one coaster. Not 100% success, but I'll take 1 corrupt out of 50 any day, considering each disc is about 50 cents a piece. I believe a lot of success is due to equipment used and patience. After some researching online I decided to lock in all the burn speeds to x6. I started out with the first 15 or so at x4 but then read and experimented with x6, which all burned fine, the one coaster was a human error. But as always, make sure all drivers are up to date on your hardware and that you mind your writing speeds.
