Yes, these “pocket bellows” work, and they work surprisingly well once you understand how and when to use them. They aren’t necessary at all for starting a fire, but they are a nice extra piece of kit to have on hand, especially when trying to revive a fire from hot coals. I always carry one when I’m outdoors. They are light, compact, and handy.I have a couple of sets of pocket bellows, one from the brand name seller and one generic version from an Amazon seller. Both are the same size and appear to have similar quality. I ordered these based on the photo and thought there was a smaller “mini” version that I could toss in my pocket kit. Turns out that the smaller one is the typical size and the other is a larger version. I’ll admit that it’s likely I simply didn’t pay enough attention to the product description, so I’m not blaming the seller at all. That said, the quality of these seems consistent with the other sets I have and the larger version gives you a bit more reach so you don’t need to get as close to the fire as with the smaller version.This set also comes with a nice quality carry pouch that can be clipped on your gear for easy access. Nice quality tool to have *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2019* Good day to all,This is a great tool to have in your fire kit for backpacking, camping, survival, etc. These very simple devices are great for increasing the air flow into your ember while starting the fire and for increasing the heat of an existing fire for certain task like cooking or boiling water.These are also fantastic for re-ignition of a hot coal bed from a previous fire.Stainless steel so it’s durable and ready when you need it.At 23” extended for the larger one (5cfm) its perfect for managing and working with a bigger fire like a campfire. At Just over 15” the smaller diameter one (8cfm) has better output for increasing heat in portable cookstoves and smaller cooking campfires.These come in a nice nylon pouch with carabiner to keep them clean and easily accessible when needed. Priced right for a great deal.
