They work great. You just have to be careful when opening the trunk as the supports have a tendency to spring the trunk open. I suspect that will subside with age. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good replacement struts for E39 trunk *by on Reviewed in the United States May 11, 2022* Struts (2 identical for both left and right side) were well packaged and received ontime. Looked well made. Surprised that the strut length can be adjusted by turning the loop on the tube end. The default (shortest) length fits a 2000 BMW 540i well. It's important to note the orientation of the old struts before removing, otherwise interference may prevent the trunk from closing completely. For installation, it's easier to attach the shaft end first before attaching the tube end since the tube end is easier to grab and provides better leverage. These struts are strong and support the trunk securely.
