    Almost perfect

*by E***A on Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2013*

I bought 2 of these for a 2-monitor system. I like having the flexibility of being able to move the uprights seperately becuase it adds to the flexibility these mounts already have. I love that the monitor arms are strong, easy to adjust and don't move around after I have them where I want. I am very happy to have so much additional desk space that was previously usurped by monitor bases. The cord management is also well thought out and wonderful. These make the whole desk area look and feel more organized and spacious.A couple minor cons (that prevent the fifth star) that I found a way to work around:The upright posts are not long enough. 24" uprights would have been more sufficient. I work at a standing setup and the main reason I bought these was to get my monitors high enough that I wasn't looking down. Lower monitors tend to encourage bad posture, which makes standing difficult and uncomfortable. The 18" uprights were just a little too low. I am not very tall either, and imagine they would feel even shorter for the taller person. I was able to fix this by lifting the base with a short piece of 2x4 lumber. Now, with the monitor arm at the very top of the upright, the monitors are acceptably high, but I feel I could still enjoy another couple inches.I work in a cube-farm with fairly tall walls. The horizontal support arms are designed such that they can't bend back on themselves. In fact they are only able to fold a few degrees (maybe 10) tighter than a right angle. The result is, that if I want the monitor to be nearly flush with my wall, I would have to arrange the stand so that horizontal arm was straight and off to the side. This isn't a problem since I bought separate, single arms. I'm glad I didn't buy the double-armed stand as it would have been much less flexible in its configuration. One other thing about setup that came to light from being in a cube-farm is that the attaching the bottom portion of the base clamp to the top was a bit of a challenge. This is mostly due to lack of clearance between desk (more like a large shelf) and adjacent wall, but it was still tricky. I ended up buying hex-head bolts from the hardware store to replace the allen-key bolts that were provide. This allowed me to use a combo wrench to tighten up the lower portion of the base clamp. If you are clamping these to a desk, this won't be a problem, but with limited space in a cube, it proved to be tricky. I bought 20mm-long bolts and they worked, but if I were to do it over, I'd buy no longer than 16mm. It makes a difference. The manufacturer could have made this less of a problem by threading both top and bottom portions of the base clamp. This would have allowed the bolts to have been screwed in from either back (as is required now) or front.Overall I'm very happy with these stands. Their adjustability is excellent and they are great for a wide variety of configurations. I would definitely recommend multiples of the single-arm stands for multiple monitors over the double-armed counterpart.

    It ain't pretty ...

*by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2012*

...but it works pretty good. This is a very strong, very utilitarian flat-screen monitor arm mount with limited articulation. The "Mount-It" is inexpensive and great for situations where function trumps form.I have an Ergotron arm at my main desk that's beautiful, sleek and highly articulated. I did not need this level of sophistication for the ACER 21" flat screen monitor at the work station desk in our bonus room. I needed ease of installation, strength, some articulation and a good price. The "Mount-It" fit the bill perfectly. The clamp on the "Mount-It" is deep and wide and when tightened up provides a very secure base for the rest of the arm. Clamping is the only option for attaching this arm (some arms offer a bolt-thru-tabletop option). You need to make sure the edge of your desk or table can accommodate the clamp. About 2 1/2" of clear space, from the desk edge inward, is needed for the clamp to make full contact with the desk surface and for the two clamp screws to securely grip from underneath. The clamp can safely accomodate a 2-2 1/4 inch thick desk surface. The overall fit and finish of the "Mount It" are good, if maybe just a tad coarse (at least in comparison to my Ergotron unit), and the welds on my example looked fairly well done and strong ...but it does exude a bit of an industrial vibe.Assembly and fine adjustment of the arm is done with the included allen wrench. Putting the "Mount-It" together is very easy.Articulation of the arm is somewhat limited at this price point. Essentially the monitor arm will rotate around the mounting post. The arm has an "elbow" allowing horizontal extension or retraction along a plane parallel to the desk top; the arm itself does not allow vertical movement. At the end of the arm where the monitor mount is located is a ball-head swivel joint. The swivel joint allows the monitor to tilt up, down, side to side and anywhere in between. You can also rotate the monitor from a "landscape" to a "portrait" position. Vertical positioning or height of the monitor can only be adjusted by loosening a ring on the mounting post using the included allen wrench. This ring is what the arm rides on as it rotates around the post. Providing you don't need to reposition the monitor often, the lack of height adjustment may not be a factor; it wasn't for me. If you need more flexibility for your application then you should look for a different arm.All in all this is a great monitor arm mount ...providing you can live with its limitations and its decidedly industro-techie look. It's well built, easily installed and quite secure when mounted correctly. And at it's price point it is hard to beat. It may not be pretty, but it's a pretty neat mount.

    Quite decent for the price-point

*by R***L on Reviewed in Canada on September 21, 2013*

I recently purchased more than one of these mounting arms, and I am generally more than satisfied with them. For my needs the range of motion and positioning are quite adequate. It should be noted that raising and lowering the height of the monitor must be done with the main support, and that means loosening the bolt and re-tightening it. So, height adjustment is not quick, nor is is something the user might want to do with any frequency. That said, the other adjusting options (tilt, rotate, swivel) are all quickly managed. One of my mounts did have a hinge issue. The hinge closest to the bracket was MUCH too loose. The monitor swiveled down and hung facing the ground. This is apparently a known issue.I doubt the monitor itself would affect this much unless it is extremely heavy. I have more than one of these mounts, holding 2 x 22-inch monitors, a 1 x 14-inch monitor and a 1 x 27-inch monitor. The 14-inch monitor and the 22-inch monitors are physically heavier than the 27-inch one, by a fair margin. But the 27-inch monitor is the one that had the hanging problem. When I examined it the hinge was loose at the bolt, and as a result the other monitors (smaller) likely would have sagged forward the same way.Fortunately it was not the first one I assembled, or I might have been disgruntled enough to return them. Instead, as I knew from previous assembly that this was not normal, I looked for a solution. To access the hinge bolt, pop off the plastic caps.I tightened the hinge. I do not know if it will last, but as I do not move that monitor very much it may not be a major factor. I did notice that there was almost no play to tighten it, though, which bespeaks a manufacturing issue. I'll have to consider what to do with it if this becomes a problem. Super-glue, while tempting ( :-) ) isn't a very sensible solution. If one of the smaller monitors were lighter, I'd switch them to see if it helped, but as the 27-inch one is actually the lightest of the four I don't think that exercise would accomplish much.I do have one observation that has nothing to do with the product or the seller. In this case the seller was ValuMax CA -- which gives the distinct impression that it is a Canadian company. It is not. It is a company based in California (which also happens to use CA as an abbreviation). The items were shipped very quickly (less than six hours) by the seller, and came via FedEx International Ground service. There was nothing wrong with that, and I was lucky in that there ended up being no border charges/brokerage issues. However, if it had been made clear the seller was not in Canada I might have considered not purchasing. This is a problem with Amazon and how the seller is listed, not with the seller or with the product. I will bring this to the attention of Amazon (Canada), although I do not know if they'll address it. It should be made very clear, especially in potentially ambiguous situations like this one, where the seller is located.
