First off, it's too small, Double the size would be better. Secondly, if you cat insists on kicking cat litter out of the box, there is little ANY mat can do. With this mat, half of it clumped on the mat, the rest scattered all over the floor. The best thing I did was get a cat box with high sides and use this mat. Again, not the total answer, but helps. I am able to just put this in the laundry room sink and rinse it off and it cleans nicely. I have an older cat she is 15 years old and the softness of this really is nice for her and I honestly couldn't be happier with the size and ease of cleaning.
