For the folks using sticks and very small wood, you might want a design with steel mesh over the rails to stop it all from falling through as it burns, but this 7 rail design might be good enough. We have had it 3 years. Granted we live in Texas and don’t burn it but 3-4 months a year but with our type of fireplace, the amount of heat it takes is amazing.
