They can ruin the flashlight if too big. so?** A: They work great with the rechargeable 14500 batteries **Q: Is this good for small jobs like construction hvac and stuff like that.** A: Yes. I do appliance repair and they work well for that. They are not as bright as larger 300lm lights, but light up a work area fine. What I like is that they use 1 inline AA battery (no annoying carousel to cause flickering) one mode on/off (no strobe to fend off a laughing attacker) and a focus. One hand/one function/no flickering. Easy to loose, so I put white electrical tape in a band around it to find easier. Wont light up an entire attic, but will definitely light the way. The narrow focus goes at least 30', wide focus good for about 5-10'.
