**Q: I just received mine today and the right side seems to bulge slightly open from the front and rear view.  Is this normal?**
A: I just looked at mine and there is a slight bulge just right of center on the front  - hadn't noticed it.  Doesn't seem dented or anything - maybe just a little bulge to accommodate the cooling compressor.  FYI - I have made almost 50 quarts of ice cream with no problems what-so-ever.  You only need to put in about 3 cups of mix as the volume expands as it mixes and freezes.  It will NOT freeze solid.  When it gets stiff and barely turns, you need to shut it off - scrape the dasher and bannister into another container - I use quart size cardboard containers - and put in your freezer to finish the freezing process.

**Q: Does it have a cooling compressor so I dont have to freeze the container?**
A: The unit contains a compressor that freezes the mixture and does not require to freeze the bowl prior to use.

**Q: Can the extended chilling (30 min-overnight)  of mixture that many recipes call for be skipped due to this unit's compressor?**

Cannot say good enough things about this unit. As with all Whynter products I've bought (Have a portable dual hose AC unit ARC-14S) it's all about the build: No fancy crap internet connected doodads and thingamagigs. Rock solid and made to last. A couple suggestions: First make sure to fill it WELL BELOW the top paddle... I did it and since it expands as it freezes it tends to start popping the lid which disengages the paddle and "jumps". Second: For those complaining about the paddles and how convoluted they are, I use a chopstick or small silicone spatula to clean it off nor prob. Ya'd think they're expecting the machine to feed it to them? Seriously? :-) All in all TOP NOTCH and well worth the price. And just to be clear: The machine churns about 16oz and anyone says it makes 1qt is talking about the RECIPE (I do vanilla). The machine CANNOT freeze 32oz in one go. With the Vanilla (which I might add is a process LoL!) it takes 2 runs to do the entirety of it.
