I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is however, if you haven't used one before then take the time to practice on some scrap. A metal straight edge for straight cuts I found to be essential. If cutting shapes then you need a very steady hand and go slowly. Clean the rod with a dry cloth; with the power ON, so that residue does not cool and harden. Again, take it slow whilst cutting. Complaint - the power cable is too short but otherwise very happy.

As it was past the return window we tested it with the multi meter. As the power supply was fine, we took the wand to bits… a loose wire and it’s working again 😀

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this be suitable to cut tulle fabric?**
A: I don't know for sure but I wouldn't think so.  The cutter is a 2mm diameter rod which is heated to melt its way through polystyrene foam.  I doubt that it gets anywhere near hot enough to burn through tulle fabric.

**Q: Is the tip of the needle round, square, rectangular?**
A: It’s cylindrical with a flat tip and a crimp which holds the heating wire inside. Good bit of kit but go slowly as it bends easily, and wipe it off with a damp cloth after cutting to stop the plastic from sticking and burning on.

I saw lots of negative reviews so thought it only fair I share the positive. I brought this one (even with negative views) as I wanted something reasonably priced, which it is. I used it for many hours the day after I brought it, and did exactly what it’s meant to. Cuts really well! Glides through the poly board I was using like butter! It’s light, easily handled, ok quality, but then that’s the price you pay. My only downside to it, is the lead is really short and could do with being a lot longer, that’s why I’ve given 4 stars. For the price I’d say it’s worth it. May not last long but it’s a chance I’m happy to take for the price.
