## Description

hOmelabs - Dehumidifier - 50 Pint - WIFI

Review: Overall GREAT Dehumidifier.. for several reasons - Competitively priced, acceptable sound (not too loud as some reviews mentioned, but my unit is 4500 sq foot size model for large home and basement applications, and it’s in our basement) Works SUPER EFFICIENTLY, we empty it 2 times every day and our basement is at a walkout level meaning 1 of 4 cement walls is not underground. With all the rain we’ve had in MI this year it was reported that we had 5” of rain during the month of June alone which is much higher than MI normal June rainfall calculations. However, on Saturday July 24 there was a torrential rain storm with 4 tornadoes to surrounding towns between 10 and 40 miles surrounding my town and in the 25 years I’ve lived in my home which has heavily wooded and hilly topography in our subdivision where the home lots average 1/2 acre, we had so much rain it was unbelievable. It was reported to be 4” of rain in just under 45 minutes of time. My back lot which is hilly and wooded had a 3 foot-wide swale of water rushing across my property, even going uphill at times to finally be redirected and emptied into a huge culvert running under the side street on my property’s western border. I have a corner lot and that rushing water was truly shocking to observe! My dehumidifier has been operating just AWESOME keeping up with all our surrounding soggy yard from on top of our grass, but also underground as well. Our soil also contains a lot of clay, making run-off and soil reabsorption even more of a challenge this year. My unit arrived within the estimated delivery expectations and even though the box had an area on one corner where the box was smashed in a bit, the dehumidifier was extremely well packaged so thankfully there was no damage to our unit. My husband assembled the parts and wheels with ease and he reported that it was easy to set up for your individual personalized setting choices as well. This dehumidifier comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty, but if you register your unit online at hOmeLabs.com website you qualify for an additional 6 months of Warranty coverage through the hOmeLabs manufacturer. Additionally, you have 30 days after purchase to decide if you would like to purchase any additional third-party warranty coverage as well. What has me on the fence regarding buying additional product coverage is two-fold. First, one of the third-party insurers starts their 2-years Warranty beginning on the date of the product purchase, so hence; their coverage runs concurrently with the manufacturer warranty which in my opinion is stupid AND in the other third-party insurer coverage it is not “clearly stated,” nor can anyone answer my question about who pays the “return shipping” fees if this product has to be sent out for repairs and if I’m recalling correctly I seem to remember that this dehumidifier weighs about 30 to 40 pounds. So if it’s the homeowner who has to pay return shipping fees to get it to someplace to be repaired those return costs will be exorbitant, so probably not worth buying additional extended warranty coverage. But it’s available to buy if the customer chooses too. Overall I’m extremely impressed and pleased at the functioning of this dehumidifier, I’m just hoping it’s going to keep operating this efficiently for several years. We take care of our products so if you do the required maintenance and keep the filters washed and cleaned as directed it should last for many seasons. In Michigan I only have to run it during the months when my furnace isn’t in use since the months that my furnace runs totally keeps any potential dampness from Spring rains or Winter snowfall dampness from developing in my basement. I do highly recommend this product as we’ve had it in use around 3 weeks to date and not a speck of wetness, or any damp smells or musty odors at all can be identified at all…. And I have a nose like a hawk when it comes to noticing anything like that in my lower level PERIOD. So far, so good! Great purchase all around!!! It’s built for large 4500 sq foot areas but obviously it also is working totally and equally efficient inside my basement cedar closet too, so perfect for small spaces in my very large sq foot overall basement space!!!
Review: Great Unit with Superb Customer Support - My old dehumidifier "died" and I needed a new one for my 1500 sq. ft. basement. I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit. It checked off all the boxes of quiet, efficient and probable long term reliability. As per the instructions, when the unit arrived it suggested that you leave the unit sitting upright for 24 hours before starting. That done, I used a short length of garden hose to run the condensate to drain. The unit was able to drop the humidity 12% in a 24 hour period in my 1500 sq. ft. basement. Its' operation is quiet, particularly so for a 50 pint dehumidifier running on turbo mode (fan is going faster). Even quieter turning off turbo mode. Then about 2 days later, after first starting it running, I noticed the unit had shut itself off for no reason. Thing is the bucket had filled and the unit, as it should with a full bucket, shut itself off. My problem with that was, I was running the condensate to drain using a garden hose to do so AND I had observed condensate water trickling out of the hose going to drain. So, some condensate was going to drain and some was going to the bucket. Not acceptable and you may be wondering why I gave this product 5 stars and not 0 or 1. Please read on. I immediately contacted (email) customer service and in a very timely manner, they responded. This was about 10 or 12 days ago. Basically they wanted to be sure the unit was setup correctly... level, no kinks in the drain hose, drain hose is running "down hill", basic stuff. So just to be sure, I checked the setup again and everything was as it should be. They also suggested that I very slightly tilt the unit back a bit which I did. That (the tilt) seemed to slow down some of the condensate going to the bucket but didn't stop it. At their request I did send some photos of the setup and, after seeing them, they agreed everything was setup correctly. Now, here's why I didn't take off any stars. Customer Service is superb and exemplary. They sent me a new unit, with no charge of any kind to replace the one I have. The new unit works great with no issues. So, I didn't take off any stars because: 1/ every manufacturer on the planet makes a "lemon" every now and then; 2/ HomeLabs stood behind their product and sent me a new one and did so without hassle and the problem was solved in a very timely manner. Cudos to Homelabs (particularly Jay) for great customer service. Bottom line, I highly recommend this unit based on how well it does its' job and the great, hassle free, customer service.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Pump is not working. Water goes into reservoir. Why?**
A: I had the same problem with my model that has the built in pump. I did the following to get it resolved:

1. Clean the drain hose out. I used small brushes and washed it out with high pressure water.

2. Opened the unit up, removed the small reservoir that the pump is connected to and cleaned it out. It was full of gunk and at the end of the pump intake tube there is a filter that was completely gunked up and the float that triggers the pump.

3. After all was cleaned I put the unit back together and the pump is working again and the bucket is remaining bone dry.

**Q: Would this work well in the South? Such as Florida?**
A: the principle behind these is: depends on what you are doing. What your AC is set at and IF you even have one! I'd say if you do set this thing FAR AWAY From the thermostat and the recirc vent if you do not it is going to be a tug-of-war between the heat this lets out and the AC trying to cool it down. I have a 990 square foot L frame house. FAR less than the max it is advertised to cover. It has 8 foot low low ceilings! We live in Oklahoma City and the weather is abouti 105 Farentheight the humidity 58-60 percent. ( RE 58 Percent most of the time inside the house and out!)The unit runs constantly even if I DISABLE the "continuous feature! It runs constantly! I set my AC at 75 degrees Farenehigth and the humidifier I have tried the "confort" setting and find it barely maintains the current level of humidity much less lowers it to 50%-as per the rule book included! 75 F/50% 77+45 ect! Do not expect it to work just because it says "1500 sqf" coverage. That also depends on ceiling hieght(though mine is minimum hieght) and how long it is turned on. 24 hours for a small degree in difference at all. If you leave it on constantly it will soak the coils causing it not to work at all. turn it off every 2/3 hours and leave it off for an hour. then set the clock over night and empty the bucket promptly and clean coils before you go to bed. It is also dependent on size. I made the mistake of listneing to questions/comments and buying the 22 pint beacuse others stated it "covers 1500sqf easily" no it does not! Buy the 22 pint for a small room and do not enclose it! If you want your whole house done buy the biggest possible and use the continuous drain!(pump)

Categorized under Major Household Appliances Dealers. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of 260617 and employs a staff of approximately 5.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So good I'm buying a second one
*by B***D on July 27, 2020*

I got this dehumidifier because we live in SW Florida and have recently had a problem with mold in our house. It's for 4500 square ft and would likely work fine for our 2 story house. We have to empty the tank twice/day so I am buying a second one to put upstairs. It is quiet, works efficiently and I am pleased with the cost. My aim is to keep the humidity below 50% and we are not quite there with the 1 dehumidifier. Update 8/12. We have 2 of these going now, one upstairs & one downstairs. It's a large 4 bedroom house. We had developed a problem with mold, living in SW Florida, even though we keep our AC set on 72 during the day and 68 at night-even though we have new AC units upstairs & downstairs, which should be able to maintain a humidity below 50%, which mold experts advise to discourage mold growth. Both of these dehumidifiers are set on continuous and they are running 24/7. We have found that they each have to be emptied TWICE daily. I'm guessing the tank holds between 1-2 gallons, have not measured it. It really does not matter. If the tank fills up, the unit turns itself off and the button that says FULL lights up. So it is foolproof, you just have to pay attention. And now having used them in this way, I find that my humidity meter is staying below 50%. I'm taking the time to write this not only because it's a good product and it deserves my positive comments. I am writing this because occult mold is a serious health threat. I'm a retired ICU nurse and feel a bit stupid that my own health was deteriorating; I was treated for chronic sinusitis & "allergies" for decades by board certified physicians. None of them had a clue, they just kept writing prescriptions. I lost hours of sleep each night because I or nasal stuffiness; I woke up most mornings with a headache. Some out there may identify with this. I had to pay out of pocket to see an integrative medicine MD, who looked at one lab result: my CRP, and asked point blank "Why is your CRP so high? Do you have a problem with mold in your house?" Well, duh, yes we did. He ordered a mycotoxin test from Great Plains Lab which showed I was shedding 2 mycotoxins in my urine which are both carcinogens and 1 is nephrotoxic. TMI? Sorry, this may save some else's life so I need to share it. I have now read 2 books on mold. We are undergoing mold remediation (not inexpensive) and part of that is keeping the humidity down. So if you even remotely think any of this is familiar to your own state of health, start checking the humidity in your house. If it's over 50% try one of these dehumidifiers. Instead of just buying one prescription antihistamine or nose spray or antibiotic after another to alleviate your head congestion and nasal symptoms-find an MD who will look below the surface and order the appropriate testing. Your very life could depend on it; and you will find your symptoms hugely improved if mold in your house is in any way involved involved. There are products available (BioBalance or Benefect) to begin eliminating any existing mold to restore you and your home to health. And this dehumidifier is part of the solution going forward!!!
