They are definitely medical grade. They aren’t the most difficult of compression socks to put on, but still take some strength. They are mid weight and middle of the road for compression. Not too tight and not too loose. They are a bit long if you are short and if you are short and have a little bit of extra weight you cannot size down to get a shorter length, sizing down would only make them tighter and not fit. I prefer this style with the open toes. The only things I would change is for there to be a shorter length for petite people and for there to be more colors. A “nude” color isn’t fun and having to wear medical grade stockings isn’t fun. Therefore if there was a wider range of colors and patterns these would constantly be my go to for over the knee/thigh high compression socks. These are a bit on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for so they are on par with the pricing of the better quality compression socks. I’ve purchased several brands and types over the years and these are holding up well after being washed and are the proper compression. I would recommend these to anyone looking. For reference I am 5’1” and 135lbs and I purchased the size according to their size chart which was a large and they are much taller than thigh height for me. Which is what I mean by a need for a petite size. It’s still worth it as I have a medical condition where I have to wear these. What size should I get?** A: Medium you want them smallest away from ur body and if you use kitchen rubber gloves to pull them on you can get them up more and more! **Q: How long are these expected to last? Wearing them everyday?** A: My experience: After what is probably equivalent to 5-6 months of daily wear (I have multiple pairs and alternate), I've noticed some decrease of elasticity. It's happened slowly, but it's now to the point that they often sink down to my knees within an hour or two. Still provide some useful compression, but not like when they were new. In terms of care, it's been cold-water washes only, in lingerie bags, and hang to dry, which should maximize their useful life. My guess is the longer you go between washes, the more likely oils from your skin will start wearing down the fibers and decreasing elasticity, so I'd recommend buying multiple pairs and alternating...but this isn't a hypothesis I've tested. **Q: Would these help with many spider veins in the thigh area?** A: I don't know if these would help with your spider veins as I use them for leg and ankle swelling which is very helpful. I know they cover about 3/4's of the thigh. I can tell you that they are difficult to get on until you get the technique down and still takes a bit of time. For me they are well worth the effort. I like the nude color, they apply just the right amount of pressure, stay in place all day and allow some air circulation. They washed and dried quickly. I actually didn't mind wearing them, okay, not as such as I thought I would. An absolute steal, my doctor's office wanted more than twice the price. Don't know that I agree with the premise of sizing down if you are "between" sizes.
