## Description

Radiateur Ekwb EK-M.2 pour SSD M.2 2280 (Noir)

Review: Win-Win. Great looks, cooler temps. What more could you ask for? - Okay, so it won't make your M.2 drive faster or have more space. Those are really the only things more you could ask for. BUT, this little heatsink is pretty cool - haha get it?! Really though. It looks very nice inside the case and keeps my M.2 Samsung 950 Pro about 10-12 degrees cooler on average. I wasn't exactly super worried about the temps in the mid-high 40s, but temps in the mid 30s is better :) Installation was easy enough. Power down, remove M.2 drive, cut the thermal pads to length, add thermal pad and backplate, thermal pad and heatsink, clamp together, re-install drive and boot up. I will say the clamps were very tight. Just make sure you don't manhandle the heatsink while trying to get the clamps on to the point you break your drive in half. Eventually got them on, and clearly didn't break my drive or I wouldn't be typing this right now cause it's my boot/OS drive. Note, on my motherboard - Asus ROG Maximus VIII Gene, I had to move the GPU to the x8 slot to be able to see the drive/heatsink. That said, my GPU performance is exactly the same and has not suffered by not using the x16 slot. I didn't check to see whether it would still fit in the x16 slot over the drive w/heatsink - because I like how it looks! Most other motherboards won't have this issue, but as this is an mATX in a pretty small case, I ran with it. Works great, looks great. TIP: don't install the backplate all the way to the far end (where the screw goes) or you'll have a hard time reinstalling the drive. The backplate has a cutout to go around the motherboard standoff, but you need to give it an extra couple millimeters for easiest re-installation.
Review: Works better than expected - My M.2 slot is right under my GPU. So it gets very little air flow and has what is essentially a large, hot chunk of metal (gpu heat sink) right above it. So it was not uncommon for my 960 Pro to be in the 70s-80s idle and push 100 under any kind of load. It was regularly mid 90's even under light use. I didn't think this would do much since the fins on it still wouldn't get much are flow over them so I dragged my feet getting this. That was a mistake. It took my temps down to low-mid 60s for idle and low 70's under load. It dropped my load temps by almost 30 degrees! Way more than I expected. If you have temp problems for your NVME drive give this a shot. It's very cheap, pretty easy to install, and will likely solve your problem. Couple of notes. I did take the all the labels off the drive so the thermal pad could make direct contact with the chips. It might not work as well if you leave the labels on to protect your warranty. I never warranty drives for data security/privacy reasons so I peeled them off but if you do something to keep in mind. It was also a bit of a pain to get the clips on but not that bad. How easy it is to get the clips on probably varies from drive to drive though.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it fit in the ps5 using the xpg gammix s70 1tb? are there better options for this? thank you!**
A: The heatsink we offer would unfortunately not fit in the PS5 once assembled in the PS5 M.2 socket as it would be too wide and you need a heatsink that is more narrow like for example, these options would be more suitable for this - https://nascompares.com/2021/07/30/compatible-ps5-ssd-heatsinks-stay-cool/ (something like this - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B089NVZGN6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share OR for even better fit - XMSJSIY M.2 2280 Heatsink Cooler, SSD Double-Sided Heat Sink with Thermal Silicone Pad for PCIE M.2 SSD or SATA M.2 SSD PC Double Sided).

**Q: Is this compatible with a Cricial MX300 m.2 ssd?**
A: i have a samsung 960 evo, it is the same dimensions as the crucial, and mine fits fine, what you have to look for is whether it is 2280, which the crucial is, and if the nand is all on one side, which it is on the crucial, so, yes, it should absolutely be compatible

**Q: Does this fit on a motherboard M.2 Slot or only on the cards?**
A: This heat sink attaches to the m.2 drive itself. I had no trouble then installing the drive on my ASUS X370-f motherboard.

**Q: Does the finish on the copper and nickel spreaders tarnish with age? Or is it a paint?**
A: I haven't had it long enough to notice that happening. If that would I'd assume it'll take a long time.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good as long as you get past instalation
*by A***R on July 17, 2021*

Lowers the temperature of the drive a decent bit, but the lack of instructions and the amount of pressure that needs to be applied for the clips to secure is a bit sketchy. I actually double checked with a video to make sure I installed it right. Not hard to install just kinda stressful as the m.2 drives are small, expensive and seem delicate. That said, it works, looks great, and I haven't had any issues and already bought another for my new drive.
