Perfect to conserve space in the camper. I love how small these collapse for storage too. They seem to be very sturdy. The are telescoping so can be adjusted to a variety of lengths. The ends discolor but that is expected when using them over an open fire. I plan on buying some as a housewarming gift for my neighbors as they have a campfire most nights. The tips are not pointed so I feel they are family friendly. During our highly scientific testing with real food and fire, we were unable to pierce a standard Nathans hot dog casing. Assuming that this is a suitable substitute for a child's finger, well done! Sadly, our youngest is now 40 so my grinding wheel quickly put the missing point on the tip. Once again we tested with food and fire and they did not disappoint. With a hot bed of coals and two skewers, I was able to grill four hotdogs to savory goodness without risking injury.
