Will this work?** A: My plumber says not to use this device. Last winter I had to pay the plumber over $200 to get this shower Shroom out of my walk-in shower drain. After a year of use the rubber got weak and it went down the drain. The plumber says that modern walk-in shower drains are designed to let Hair go down easily. **Q: From the manufacturer, they replace the problematic 1.0 product with 2.0 at amazon? does anyone know when this happens? how can i know what is mine?** A: If you have a 2 inch shower drain it's almost impossible to make this go down the drain. Leave the two pointy sides resting on the edge of the drain and you can't go wrong. **Q: Will the coverage/lid of the shower be a problem for the showershroom or will it come with its own lid?** A: It fits directly in the drain under the cover. I simply removed the cover and put the showershroom in, then I just let the cover lay over the drain so I can easily remove it and the shroom for cleaning. It's amazing how much hair this little product collects after washing my hair. I have used the sink, tub and shower shrooms in my drains for several months and have not had any hair clogs since. **Q: I'm confused about how this is slipping down drains. Does it require removal of the existing drain insert, that metal cross bit inside the drain?** A: if you have the pop up insert on the tub drain, then yes it is required; but this one will not fit in a standard drain as advertised. If the pop up has already been removed you will see the cross bit inside the drain and that part does NOT need to be removed. It’s part of the assembly anyway so do not even try to remove it. You’ll have a bigger problem if you do. It stays. I have tubshoom now that work great ( another brand) and wanted another but this particular brand is way too big...will not fit in the drain. Save your money and get the other brand. This is false andverstising for standard tub drain and no idea what kind of drain the seller thinks it would fit. Our drains have never flowed so well!! It stops the great majority of their hair from going down and clogging the drain. Now if I could just get one for the sinks in the house - who knew the girls would shed so badly? Definately not a problem I have - afterall being married with girls - I've lost my hair already! BUT WAIT theres more... Be prepared for some of the most disgusting, grimey, horrible and smelly hair traps to clean out. If you dont clean this out every other day you'll end up with the drain getting clogged, and mold/mildew on the hair. Glove up and clean that crud out. If you ask me (which obviously you did not) the only way to make this better is to somehow set it up like a cat litter trap that is self cleaning---not sure how that would be possible, but after cleaning our traps out for a few months I'd probably pay $300-400 to avoid the mess...or just plan on buying one of these every month (Auto delivery?) for each drain and throw the suckers out. At this price its probably worthwhile. Strongly recommend throwing them away once a quarter at the minimum.In summary, works great, needs automation, highly recommended, and its probably worth assigning to your daughters/wife who will clean the trap since its their hair. ( Good luck on that one my friend!!) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great after minor modification... 4 1/2 stars *by L***N on February 19, 2019* After reading the horror stories about a ShowerShroom that washed down the drain, I modified mine with the sprayer tube from an old Windex bottle and a plastic-coated (important!) twist tie that was around the power cord of a new table lamp. (See photos.) I threaded the twist tie through 2 holes in the top of the Shroom. Use 1 hole on either side of the flexible piece that's supposed to prevent the Shroom from going down the drain (let's call it the 'handle'), threading up from the inside so the 2 loose ends are on the top Cut a piece of the plastic spray pump tube so it is about 1/2" wider than the handle and there's an extra 1/4" on either end. Very tightly twist the tie multiple times so that it holds the tube snugly in place (tube should be secure and not able to be pulled out). Once tube is secured in place, insert Shroom in drain as per directions, bend the twist tie flat with top of Shroom so it doesn't stick up, and replace the drain cover. Voila! A quick, easy, free fix to keep your ShowerShroom from washing down the drain and your drain hair free!NOTE: Use only the plastic-coated twist ties and replace from time to time to prevent breakage, especially if it gets weak from rusting. While replacing the tie, go ahead and replace the tube too in case it's brttle and possibly cracked.Apologies for the gross shot of the drain. It's a 40-year-old fiberglass shower stall that I inherited when I recently purchased my home.
