A: No. By accident I poured boiling water onto a bag in the sink...it didn't melt but was definitely damaged.

A: Yes, they close easily and they stay closed.

**Q: Will these prevent water from entering when putting in a cooler with melted ice?**
A: yes, as long as you seal them properly

**Q: Before I chuck these in the garbage and write a bad review, is there a trick to getting them to zip again after running through the dishwasher?**
A: They are extremely difficult to zip closed. Our 10 year old cannot do it and it is a test of patience every morning for me to get them closed myself. I hate the idea of chucking them in the garbage, so I just keep dealing with their terrible design, hoping that they loosen up over time or something. They will likely end up in the garbage at some point.

These are great for me. The thickness of the material makes it sturdy and being able to wash and reuse them has been a huge help with my limited space in my kitchen. They don’t take up much room and you don’t have to worry about getting more before you run out. I say it’s a good value to replace the disposable sandwich bags.
