When I contacted the manufacturer, I spoke with a technician who had me disassemble (not easy) parts of the chair and send him photos. Through the disassembly process, I found the design and materials defects. The technician told me I am lucky, because the chair is under warranty and the firm would mail me a replacement seat back and cloth "free". It's not free, it's prepaid. I expressed my concern that this is going to continue to happen regularly, because the replacement parts are the same material that is torn. It will tear again. It's not a malfunction. It's how the chair is made. I will be continually be replacing torn pieces of the chair throughout the warranty term, not able to use the chair, and what will I do when the warranty is up? I had been investigating the massage chair options for several months and had decided on a particular chair based off of research and reviews. Not the best way to do it but I did not think there were any dealers in New England that carried multiple brands so I resolved myself to do the best research I could and buy based on the research. I discovered Massage Care Wellness and that they were located in New England. I sent an inquiry to see if they had any open box or demo chair of the model I wanted. The owner, Alison, responded that they had a demo unit of the chair I wanted and gave me a really great price on it. Now this is where is I am most impressed with Massage Care Wellness and Alison. So she already had the sale in their pocket. There was no need to do any further work. However, Alison invited me to her showroom in NH and to try out several other chairs that were also demo units for sale just to be sure that the one I picked would really work for me. She spent several hours with me and showed me several different chairs that worked well for me with my particular pain issues. I was impressed with her knowledge of each of the chairs considering the complexity of these high quality chairs. They carry all of the major brands and she has many of the models on display. On to the chair. One thing that is impossible to find in your research for a massage / therapy chair is what each chair feels like. 3d in one chair can be a totally different experience in another. It really is important to try each of the chairs to see what works well for you. The problem for most of us is that there are not too many stores that carry a range of these chairs to try out. So far, I really like the i7 chair. It does many things well and only a few things mediocre. What eventually sold me on the i7 was a combination of things, American made (more or less), longer warranty than most, excellent neck massage, good back massage, easier to use control system, smoother massage than some other models and very comfortable to use. Here are some models I tried and here is my results if this helps anyone else with their decision. Inada Dreamwave: Excellent chair for casual or relaxation massage. Not really a pain relief chair and certainly does not dig into the problem areas like neck and lower back. Infinity IT-8500 X3: Loved this chair and was the chair I originally wanted to buy. VERY aggressive chair. If you want a chair that really digs into you back, neck and feet, this is the one and it's at a great price point compared to the other top tiered chairs. What led me to choose the Luraco over this was that the Infinity seemed a bit too aggressive for me. I am 5'10" and about 170 lbs. My backbone is right up against my skin so the aggressive rollers were bordering on painful for me. For someone who had a bit more "insulation" and wanted a very deep tissue massage, I believe the 8500 X3 would be an excellent choice. The i7 comes somewhat close to the 8500 x3 but isn't quite as intense. Both offer 3d but even at lowest settings, the 8500 X3 is really designed to do deep tissue. Human Touch Novo XT: Very nice chair. Gave a nice experience but did not seem aggressive enough in the neck area which is a primary concern of mine. This is an L track chair that goes down to your gluts area. IMHO, an L track would really need to offer a deep tissue in the hamstring area to be truly useful. It was a nice addition for a massage though. Nowhere near as important to me as neck and back. Nothing else really stood out that would have driven me to this chair. Osaki Japan premium 4d: Very nice chair as well. Hit all the major spots I was interested in but did not stand out like the 8500 X3 or the i7.
