Right-click the disc icon on the desktop and select "Eject," or use "File" > "Eject." ② If the disc icon doesn't appear on your Mac desktop, please go to "Finder" > "Settings" (or "Preferences") > "General" and ensure "External disks" is checked to allow it to display. ③ Plug-and-play means no driver needed, but you must install proper software before playing or burning discs. ④ For desktop PCs, if the drive doesn’t work properly, please test a rear USB port for better power supply. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B071LGWVSL | | Additional Features | Come with Protective Case, High Speed USB 3.0, Longer Working Lifespan, Plug & Play, Slim & Portable | | Best Sellers Rank | #14 in External CD & DVD Drives | | Brand | ROOFULL | | Built-In Media | External CD/DVD Drive | | Cache Memory Installed Size | 2 | | Color | Black | | Compatible Devices | Laptop, Desktop, All-in-One PC | | Connectivity Technology | USB | | Customer Package Type | Storage Carrying Case and Box | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 25,066 Reviews | | Data Transfer Rate | 625 megabytes_per_second | | Enclosure Material | Aluminum, Plastic | | Form Factor | External | | Hardware Interface | USB 3.0 Type A, USB Type C | | Hardware Platform | All in One PC, Laptop, PC | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 5.87"L x 5.75"W x 0.63"H | | Item Highlight | Portable CD DVD Player Burner Reader Writer ROM +/-RW Optical Drive for PC Desktop MacBook, Windows 11/10/8/7 Mac Linux OS | | Item Weight | 0.3 kg | | Manufacturer | ROOFULL | | Media Speed | DVD 11.04 / CD 3.6 megabytes_per_second | | Mfr Part Number | ECD819-SU3-BB | | Model Number | ECD819-SU3-BB | | Operating System | Linux, Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows XP | | Optical Storage Read Speed | Max 24xCD / 8xDVD | | Optical Storage Write Speed | Max 24xCD / 8xDVD | | Read Speed | 24 x | | Special Feature | Come with Protective Case, High Speed USB 3.0, Longer Working Lifespan, Plug & Play, Slim & Portable Special Feature Come with Protective Case, High Speed USB 3.0, Longer Working Lifespan, Plug & Play, Slim & Portable See more | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | 24 month warranty | ## Product Details - **Brand:** ROOFULL - **Hardware Interface:** USB 3.0 Type A, USB Type C - **Optical Storage Read Speed:** Max 24xCD / 8xDVD - **Optical Storage Write Speed:** Max 24xCD / 8xDVD ## Images ![ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive for Laptop with Carrying Case, USB 3.0 Type-C - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61fGY+VPxOL.jpg) ![ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive for Laptop with Carrying Case, USB 3.0 Type-C - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61XeQrqx6vL.jpg) ![ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive for Laptop with Carrying Case, USB 3.0 Type-C - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61TKgdz4l9L.jpg) ![ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive for Laptop with Carrying Case, USB 3.0 Type-C - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61o-dr2ipnL.jpg) ![ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive for Laptop with Carrying Case, USB 3.0 Type-C - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71uyCyBYALL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: I have purchased external cd/dvd drives, but they won't work with movies and projectors, I get video but no audio? They all say "enjoy movies" but no.** A: Not sure if this is your problem, but it says in the details...fine print, that this unit does not play Blu-ray DVDs. It was the deal breaker for me. If I am buying an external drive, it is going to need to do it all. 10 dollars either way is not worth any limitations **Q: unit won't turn on. I have hp laptop with windows 8. it's recognized as D drive but won't run.???** A: Hi, could you send message to us: support@roofull.com There may be some common problem when we use external devices, such as dvd drive or hard drive, it should be fixed by some methods. I am a customer just like you and can say that the ROOFULL USB 3.0 External CD DVD Drive that I received was brand new. It comes with a protective carrying case and both the CD DVD Drive and the protective case were inside another zip-lock protective covering. On the outside zip-lock bag it clearly states that the external CD DVD Drive is new. I was really impressed with how securely it was packed. It is performing excellently. Hope this helps you in making your decision. Todd B. **Q: what's the weight without the bag?** A: 10.7 oz ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effortless DVD Experience *by R***K on May 4, 2024* The ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive is simply fantastic for anyone needing reliable CD and DVD functionality on their laptop or desktop. Highly recommended! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality. Nice carry case. Worked for me *by G***G on September 24, 2026* CD DVD was as advertised. It worked well. Came with dual usb and usbc cable that stores in bottom of drive. Also included was a padded carrying case. Seems to be well built. It worked for me to rip music CDs to my iPhone Music app. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mostly works fine. Good value for the money. *by G***0 on April 1, 2026* I tried all the things this drive is supposed to do: Used Windows Media Player Legacy for these audio functions: Played a CD from the drive; ripped a CD that was in the drive onto my computer; then played the ripped CD (to make sure it had ripped ok). I burned a CD from an album that I had downloaded onto my computer. I was then able to play the CD from the drive, and also from a cd player in my radio, so the burn was successful. I downloaded and used VLC Media Player to watch a DVD on my computer. I installed a large program from a DVD onto my computer (it was VERY slow doing this, but it was eventually successful). The USB ports worked fine for thumb drives, but I had trouble inserting an SD card into the slot, and the micro SD slot gave me even more trouble. I don't need this drive for that, so this is not a show-stopper for me, but it is the reason for the 4 stars. There was an additional cord in the box (besides the one located in the bottom of the device). The instructions said I could plug that into a power device if needed, but I never used it, because I didn't see that there was a need for more power. The model I bought has a nice padded sleeve that will be useful, since I don't plan to use this drive a lot. There was a notice in the box that said I could get an additional 2-yr warranty by sending my Amazon order number to a specific email address. A nice plus. All in all, a good value for the money. ## Frequently Bought Together - ROOFULL External CD/DVD Drive USB 3.0 Portable CD DVD Player Burner Reader Writer CD/DVD-ROM +/-RW Optical Disk Drive for Laptop PC Mac Windows 11/10/8/7 Linux Computer with Carrying Case - Verbatim CD-R Blank Discs 700MB 80 Minutes 52x Recordable Disc for Data and Music - 50 Pack Spindle,Silver - Verbatim DVD-R Blank Discs AZO Dye 4.7GB 16X Recordable Disc - 50 Pack Spindle,Silver --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/44763001-roofull-external-cd-dvd-drive-for-laptop-with-carrying-case](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/44763001-roofull-external-cd-dvd-drive-for-laptop-with-carrying-case) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-06*
