As the description says it is solid leather. I found my belt to be a bit larger than I needed, but still within the fit range, so I sawed off (yes, with a hack saw - this is thick leather) a bit of the extra. The color goes all the way through and I just needed to apply a little sandpaper to smooth the cut edges to have a professional finish on the cut edges.On this type of belt the most common problem is the prongs that fit through the belt holes. On many belts they either bend over time or come out of the hole too easily or cause the tip of the belt to stick up. None of those things are problems with this belt. The prongs are very strong, are at an angle that, from the results, is just right for a combination of ease of use and prevention of unintended unbuckling and the buckle end tip of the belt stays snug against the overlapping layer of belt.I'm not a musician; rather I wanted a belt like this for concealed carry. With this belt there is no buckle bump in your T or Polo shirt so you can put the buckle one loop to the left and when you clip on your in-the-waistband holster at the 12 o,clock position the slight bump from the holster clip looks like the bump from a belt buckle. This belt worked out perfectly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fit for public safety *by Y***R on March 28, 2016* Very nice belt, works well with a public safety uniform. No need to worry about the velcro wearing out, since that's been taken out of the equation. It is closed with two heavy-duty hooks that fit into holes on the other end of the belt. ### ⭐⭐ The sizing is way off *by K***. on December 7, 2015* I bought a 40" and the hole sizes are for a 41" to 46" waist, which is way too large. Generally a 40" would be for something like a 38" to 42" waist. The only other size they have is a 32".
