Review: Excellent lightweight all-terrain hiking shoe. - This shoe is like a high top running shoe but with better sole. The heel is square, not rounded, so descending dirt, scree or soft snow is secure. I have rock climbed with them up to Yosemite Grade 5.6 although not technically a rock shoe. This is my third pair and they last a good season as I am hiking or climbing about 5 days per week as a professional. The waterproofing allows feet to stay dry when walking through wet/dewy grass. They are also good for running on mountain trails and off-trail terrain. The nylon web lace guides do wear through but the shoes are pretty much used up at that point.
Review: Comfy, fairly durable - Probably not fit for hardcore use, but my feet feel great even after working on my feet all day long, and using them for light hiking on the weekends as well. They don't last me any incredibly long time. After about a year they start wearing down a bit, but usually it's just the laces tearing and the sole losing some of its cushion. Overall pretty durable. As for weatherproofing and breathability, I wear them year round and they don't get TOO hot and sweaty on the summer, tho YMMV, and in the winter they're warm enough for casual New England hiking etc. Pretty good waterproofing, I walked through a flooded parking lot, maybe 3 inches of water, and came out just fine, even almost a year in on this pair. I think they might be discontinuing these so I'll grab a couple more and hope for the best in the future.

**Q: Can you use these shoes as a running shoe as well as hiking, or only hiking?**
A: For me they are too heavy to use as a running shoe. I only use them for hiking. I use the Salomon SpeedCross and Wings Pro for running, depending on the surface. YMMV

A: They’ve been great for me! I’ve been wearing Salomons for 5 years.

I just replaced my old pair which lasted 3 years. I love how they fit and they are very light. I have had many hiking boots in the past and these are a great combination of sturdy yet not klunky. They fit true to size. The tread is the best, very good gripping on rocks and no mis steps because they fit so well and are not heavy. I hope they keep making these because they are the best fitting and functional boots EVER!
