I did have to use the shorter wheels from my broken plate roller. I took a set of wire cutters and cut these larger wheels from the new roller. Just put the wheel itself into the jaws of the cutter and they easily split without much force. I then took the same cutters and broke off one of the tabs of each wheel retainer from my broken roller. Slipped my small, used plastic wheels around the one remaining tab, and then pushed them each onto the new roller over the two retention tabs.
