Reads more like a diary than a polished, published account.

    Shehadeh holds back too much.

This gives great insight into the Palestinian situation. It's got family connections to the Nakba of 1948. It reveals dissatisfaction with the period of Jordanian rule of Palestine (1948-1967), and it presented the hope that the release from Jordan after the 1967 war would lead directly to a Palestinian state. But I am very angry with the author. He's a Palestinian CHRISTIAN, so his religion must give him a special point of view on Palestine. He withholds all of it. What exactly would a Christian think about a Muslim-run Palestine? Does he believe that Christians would be cherished and protected or persecuted and expelled? I'd love to know his feelings.

    Living through absurdity

Well written and thoughtful observations by renowned author and lawyer. His tale of trying to maintain a friendship through the years of occupation.
